Hey everyone. Its been a long time since I posted anything, so here goes!
This ship is using a fusion rector for power and EM propulsion for sublight drive. It has EM thrusters as well. There is a small landing shuttle that docks underslung between the warp rings. Just started on it so I'm still working things out.
good point lol. I think Im going to do a couple unwrapping tutts. I need to get my uvw template put together better. The way I have things is making it hard to line up dirt marks and lines.
Ok so instead of working with the uv map i had I think i figured out a better way to do it. I seem to be making a lot of progress right now. Just the diffuse map atm. Crits always welcome.
I figured the leading edge of the forward ring and nose would take a decent coating of dirt due to hiding out in an asteroid belt or something like that. And I don't think this is going to hit atmosphere. I have been working on something for that. She lives underslung between the fore ring and the living quarters that are underslung rear.
Every good ship needs a mechanic I think. The arms are just place holders from a model I downloaded. Im not sure if hes going to keep going this direction or not.
Thanks Vortex trying to keep it utilitarian is a little tricky it seems. And Evil that was the main inspiration for the robot. I think this shuttle/lander "blocking" is a better direction for it.
I'd go with at least 4k (4096 x 4096.) Though, it also depends on how many maps total you're doing. If you're doing one map for the entire ship, you may want to go even bigger than that, 6k or 8k.
2-4K is probably going to be standard resolution within the next couple of years. Going 6-8K could give it an extra year or two of life, and if you wanted to keep 4K, you could always downscale the larger texture maps.

I like the landing craft so far.
