I've been working on this new Star Wars VII X-Wing for weeks. I've already finished what I call "Phase 3 of the model" which you can see the progress in my Flickr library:

Now, I'm going to continue working on my TFA X-Wing, moving to what I call, "Phase 4" which is correcting mistakes, adding the cockpit, landing gear and other details. Then after that will be phase 5 which will be texturing. I'll release the model after each phase is done. If you want to download the earlier phase 3 model, here they are in two formats, I'm offering it for free! :
Cinema 4Dr16 format (canopy can be moved open or close, wings can be open and closed):

and study these photos quite a bit too. My model isn't 100% perfect to the new X-Wing but I think I got pretty close. Obviously I'll have to adjust it when we see more footage or photos of the thing.

Thank you! Well, I'm starting my Phase IV build, adding further details, cockpit and landing gear. Once I finish this phase, I'll release that version for free too.
Here's where I left off.

I didn't even realize when watching the trailer (twenty times) that the X-Wing was so different. I actually like this new version. It takes the same classic design, but removes some of that 70's / 80's retro sci-fi look and brings it up to date a little.

I noticed in the trailer the wings were different, but I didn't notice the rest. Though, I was flipping through the Star Wars Insider at a grocery store a few months back and I saw a set pic of one of these landed. With the wings and engines folded, I thought it was a Z-95.
