Been a lurker here for quite sometime. Thought I would share my tribute to the last U.S. Naval ship I served on - U.S.S. Tarawa (LHA-1).
Tarawa is modeled and rendered using Anim8or. I made the textures using GIMP. It is an original design and is pictures in the pre-TNG era (circa 2355).
I imagine her as having been built as a warp drive test bed in the late 2200s. Once her years as a test vehicle were done she was reconfigured as a diplomatic courier and reclassified as a light frigate.
