Hey all, it's been a long time since I posted here. These are some ZBrush sculpts I've been working on. I had 4 or 5 months ago I came across some cool Alien/Xenomorph scultps and then got really interested in H.R. Giger's work for Alien. So...these are the results of trying to come up with some biomechanical designs of my own, influenced heavily by Giger's work.
Initial idea
Rigged and posed, to get a sense of how it looks. Simple biomechanical environment, rendered in modo.
ONe final ZBrush shot of the body textured with the hand size adjusted because my wife felt the hands were too "small". Obviously, for my own personal safety, I immediately took this advice to heart and adjusted accordingly. Turned out she was right!
And finally a couple of animations of this baby in motion - a turntable and a really short little animation test.
The first one is freaking creepy. The second one not as much. I think maybe because the stance looks more human than that of the first one. I like the two-thumbed hands on the second one.
Love that first one, very creepy, kinda feels like a mix between the Alien and the creatures from War of the Worlds to me, don't know why, maybe the shape of the hands? Very good work. Everyone is always trying to get me into having a dabble with Zbrush, but because I don't really do much character work I haven't bothered yet, but this lot is certainly encouraging me to have a go.
More detailing of the legs. Started work on torso and arms. Also started fooling around with animating it, creating some walk and run cycles for the models.
It's a good thing I have a bright monitor because it's a tad on the dark side. However, the modeling is fantastic and the creature certainly looks great.
Agreed - it's a little dark, I Was just lplaying around a bit with lighting and seeing how it looked
posed. It's not even textured yet nor is the sculpting quite done (close though).
Hey guys, here's some updates on the second creature. Pretty much done with the modeling, moving on to texturing it. Here's a first cut at texturing it and rendering it.

Do you have any backstory for it?
Another houdini render, this time with volumetric fog on.
More detailing...
Hand's completely reworked
Textures applied...
then back to Houdini for a render, with a little better lighting and a more interesting floor
The top "flaps" will open up, so I had to come up with something to put in there - the brainbox!
And here's what the flaps look like opened up!

Any C&C please fire away!
Yes I do, a somewhat involved one. If people are actually interested I'd be happy to sort of write it out (I hate typing ).
Another creature attempt, again, biomechanical in nature, possibly not much of a conversationalist - think the strong, silent type.
Used a silhouette to get an idea of the profile and how the forms looked.
Initial retopo wireframe (thank God for Modo 601's retopo tools!).
More detailing, at this point I'm still just sculpting in Dynamesh. The other bits are modeled in Modo and then brought in as subtools.
One attempt at an alternate hands idea. Didn't really like it
Settled on something like this
At this point I've updated retopo model, and then projected the dynamesh scupt onto that. Now starting to add more concrete details.
Rigged in Messiah again, and then tried a test pose.
Again, any crits, please let me know!
Top notch work mate.

here's some more updates. Using a custom made matcap for the material, just to see how things look.
