I was just wondering if anyone had a guide or some useful pointers in cutting the groove into the warp nacelles on the Constitution class, I've tried many times using different approaches all ending a big heap of fail, I'm using 3DS Max but I can usually adapt from other 3D software.

Instead of a window, make a shape that looks like the groove, then cut it in. Delete the inside of the hole, extrude the edges inward and cap it.
