I think its a good start, but it needs to be more fluid as it flows over the hull... and wings. Almost like a wind tunnel.

    thanks!
and yeah i agree i have some more tweaks to do so it'll look better.
currently the Dust/clouds are just Sprite particles im going to try volume instead and maybe get to look better.

Great start. The Destiny herself looks awesome!

i think you'd get a closer effect with fume fx.
if you have enough patience, you'll get really awsome results.

This would also (short of the TARDIS, teleportation, short range jump drive etc.) be the fastest FTL seen on screen, ever. To move between many galaxies? Good grief!

FumeFX might be overkill in this case.

Take a look at the "Particle Flow: Creating Particle Based Flames" tutorial here (halfway down the page) first; this guy is a god with particles! http://vfxsolution.com/allanmckay/2009/11/legacy-fx-tutorials/
It's a video tutorial, and it walks you through every part of what you need to do. I think this should help you a lot!

Same goes for www.xenomorphic.co.uk, lots of stuff one can learn from these two.

    Here's a proof of concept: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xlbzc8QKVJI
