I have un-installed and re-installed 3ds Max, and I still can’t get them to open, I have installed all the service packs, etc. for 3ds max 9, and I can’t upgrade, because I use a plugin that isn’t available in later versions of Max, and the plugin is very crucial to one of the effects I create.
I also get problems when trying to open pre-made flares with Cebas Final Flares, telling me the flare file can’t be read.
This is the only issue I have come across in Max 9, and I haven’t found any ways to fix it.
It appears to be a bug in 3ds Max 9, 2008, and 2009, I installed and tested Max 8, and Max 2010 and they load, with no problems.

Chris; I'm using 2009 and I cant seem to load the preset files either. Don't think they#re that great though
What is the plugin keeping you from upgrading?
It must be a bug in the pre-made flares in Max 9 to 2009, because I can create an exact copy of the flare using settings from 2010, and save it in Max 9, and the file almost 200KB larger than it used to be, despite being the same exact file.
Digimation Lightning, I use it for my phaser effects.

Also, your sig is a little big as it's only supposed to be 3 lines maximum
I posted the same thing on their forums.
Well, it's been like that for a while now, and no problems, it's not that big in height.

Could you please reduce your signature to fit the 3 line rule?

Well, then what kind of signatures are allowed?
I will, but I think it's lame, to be honest.
