Rotation

Im in the very very early stages of animating this space ship (attatched as image to this thread). However I am not entirely sure how to do a small thing! I know its some sort of constraint or something, but I can't figure it out :),
Say if i wanted the engine (the inner part with the light rays glowing out of it) to rotate on 1 axis, what would be the easiest way to do this, while keeping it parented to the ship?

(That way i could animate it to spin whenever the ship is moving)

Which application are you using?! Usually you can link one object to another, but the method varies

Oh sorry! 3ds max, i got the 'select and link tool'. However using that sometimes when an object is moving can be a problem. Also it makes it harder to do exact rotations. I was wondering if there was a axis rotation constraint that would assist this.
