Lightwave file compatibility

Can a Lightwave 5 file be opened on with Lightwave 9? I have a few meshes that are rather old, supposedly from LW5 but won't open properly, or at all, with LW9.

Anybody experienced this before? :confused:

    You might need to go into the surface editor and enable compatability in the advanced surface tab.
