The USS Yorktown was built as an NX class ship but shelved as Starfleet relized this model would be more costly to build. The NX-01 Enterprise was built in its place. Then several years later during the Xindi incident ,it was pulled and the building of this ship was finished. No other models of this ship were built but,its design inspired future Starfleet ships
