    guess you mean a "hole"?

i am shure lightwave has it too, in cinema it's called the "boole object"

just click on objects > modeling > boole object.
(i think it is the same path in all c4d versions, but i'm not shure. this path is from v10.)
then go to the object manager and drag the object which should have the hole in it into the boole object. create a barrel and drag it in the object manager below the first object (but still inside the boole bject), then move the barrel to the place where the hole should be.
now you can play around with the four different types of the boole object by selecting "object" in the attributes area at the right/bottom and choose one of the 4 drop down items of "boole type" at the right.

hope you undersood it as english is not my motherlanguage ^^
