Just built a new computer and got a new scanner hooked up. Thought I would start scanning all the little sketches I've doodled while my students were doing their practical exams (when I was teaching which I stopped doing last year).
So here is some basic info:
The 'Shiv' started life as the MDS Naipier, a surplus corvette.
All window's in the Shiv's structure are 1 decimetre thick transparent armoured metaceramioid material.
The bridge windows are fitted with 1 decimetre thick armour plate shutters that cover the outside when in combat situations.
All visuals are taken by externally mounted high definition cameras and other sensors [i.e.: infrared, radar, lidar, visual spectrum light. ultraviolet, x-ray, etc...] tied into the ships redundant computer system and fed to a range of viewing platforms. In other words, nobody looks out the windows to navigate
But the view is nice when you are orbiting a planet.
Not really happy with the aft of this ship and have no idea what the engines would look like at the moment

Thank you rojren
I remember when I used to draw in high school. Fortunately, not long after I graduated, I bought my first computer and, not long after, discovered the joys of CGI, because I can't draw.
Yeah, when I graduated high school the computer I had was aTI99. My first though was a Timex Sinclair. Once I was in the infantry and had some money I bought an Amega that was modded with 1 Meg memory! To this day the graphics program I used on it could still kick butt
I pretty much stopped drawing when I joined up as I no longer had the free time. I regret that but as they say; "That's life".
I don't know if I ever will. One of the reasons I'm putting them up is they might give others some ideas. Maybe they might want to model the drawings as they are of just use some of the ideas. I've got lots more to upload now that I have a ton of them scanned.
Steven Eisler's book Space Wars Worlds & Weapons was a huge influence as well as almost everything that Mobius put out in Heavy Metal. Even stuff I was looking at in Cars Magazine helped me out. They used to have a section that showed kids how to draw crazy cars.
I did a lot of ink and pencil work as well a more pencil crayon than I thought I remembered. I sure spent a lot of math classes doodling in my work books!
So here is the first bit which I kind of title my Fred Gambino phase.
More will be coming later. Hope you like it.
And the oldest one...
Garbage hauler!
Need you ask?
One of my favourites here
This was drawn for the Traveller RPG that I was doing at the time.
Again, Traveller RPG influenced
Another of my fav's
Done for Traveller
Another of my favourites and I have another drawing of it in flight that I need to find and scan.
Another fav
Top ship in this 5 ship pic is clearly a ship influenced by a design done for the Droyne in Traveller, just much bigger and only a slightly different shape. I was making it for the Traveller RPG so it would fit in with a "style" of ship for the Droyne.
I always liked this one too.
One of my all time favourites that I did for the Traveller RPG. I would LOVE to see this in 3D one day
I love this one. I used it on the first web page I ever did back in the 90's and even did a negative view of it.
I absolutely love this one as well
Never finished this one...
This should be the Orca class and not the Shark class
Here comes the big Star Wars influenced ship - never finished it though...
I always thought of this as the "Water Melon" ship
Here are two pics of a small ship
Two more of another fav
Always thought of this one as the candle stick...

Devil cat that was also drawn on a white bed sheet in CFB Cornwallis for the 7 Platoon banner (this version) and yes that is a red star depicting the USSR (our enemy of the time). It was also tuned into a tattoo when one of my friends in the infantry wanted a tat and didn't have the money. The tattooist said if he can come up with some good drawings he would get it for free. This was one of the ones I let him use. Found out years later when I was in CFB Cold Lake that it had finally been used as a tattoo.
