Not much of an update, except that I spent an hour or so yesterday playing with the fantail to set the self illumination up for that. Worked this morning and went to the pub this afternoon, so thought I'd play it safe and not even open the file today.
So, here's a render I did yesterday. Bumped the sample count up to 10,000. Took about an hour and 5 minutes to render.
Do you mean the image from the inside of one that was knocking around the net a few years back? I tried to find that one as a reference for this project, but with no luck. This is what I came up with based on memory.
Yeah, those interior renderings. Drexler had them on his blog before he deleted it and I'm searching for them ever since. Nice going Internet, with your 'what happens online, stays online' >(
Okay, need a little help here please. I've been admiring Jen's NC-10 again recently and have decided that I want to build both version of the NX class. If anything I may notice some details in the model that I haven't before and it could be a good way to learn some new techniques and how shapes can fit together.
Problem I'm having is setting up the orthographic views. I'm using the ones from Trek core, which are an awesome resolution. I can get the front and back images to line up perfectly with each other, and the top and bottom with each other. I can't seem to get the top and bottom to line with the front and back and the side seems to have entirely different proportions. I've used the dimensions for the ship given at Memory Alpha to create a box to help line things up. It just doesn't seem to want to happen.
(I've also had this problem with the ENT era Interpid when I've attempted that before.)
If you'd like, I can put the really huge (4096 x 3072) orthos I have of the ship in a .zip file and upload those for you. I'm not sure where I got them from, possibly Doug Drexler's old blog, but they're beautiful. Plus, since they were rendered using the actual CGI model from the show and (presumably) an orthographic camera, they should line up perfectly and will be accurate.
I have a really bad memory, so I don't even remember giving you those.
I found where I got them, Ex Astris Scientia. I also found out they're from Polar Lights, which is probably why they're so large. I'm sure somebody involved with the show rendered those nice and big to give PL a nice reference from which to work in building their physical models.

Done a little more work on the dock.
Looking forward to more.
Here's the deflector:

Here's what I have so far on the Shuttlepod:

They appear to be the same ones as TrekCore. Could be where you had them from.
