Design wise, the ship is supposed to be a successful version of what the Excelsior-Class was supposed to be in ST:III.
The basic hull-form is derived from the Sovereign Class but the idea is to incorporate circular saucer with a number of significant design changes, and a cut-back neck and a new-nacelle design.
