I'm gonna do the TNG version, Though I suppose the TOS one would be a qiuck modification.
MKF: No splines are involved, just a bit of SubD. But as you said before Eaves' ships have a couple "anti-SubD" parts, so a lot of "manual work"
I tried speedmodelling this one using the schematics he posted, but any 1 view conflicts with 2 others...so I'm just sticking to the 3/4 drawing and trying to match that up.
This was one of the designs for Perpetual's ST Online, and it shares a common nacelle design with most of them.
here is the drawing I'm working off (click to enlarge):
Thanks!
Ozy, didn't you say you wanted to take a crack at one of his designs too? I'm looking forward to that, can never have too many of Eaves' ships modelled
Thanks!

...
Yeah, but I can't figure out which one to try first!
SWEET!! I had no idea that John Eaves had a blog!!! I'll definately add the link to "Star Trek: New Worlds", (both the yahoo group and geocities site.)
Wow, thanks everyone
I've mostly been trying to figure out how to make the bottom look, so not much of an update yet - I did start on the nacelle though:
Looking great man. I know what you mean about consolidating some of the orthos. I tried blocking out the ramjet this weekend and had a little trouble consolidating the views. I might take your approach and just use the 3/4 view. Your's is looking really great.
Keep at it Melak, I think a few of us here all seem to be focusing on a different ship each, would be cool to get an image done at the end of it with the entire collection for STO :-)
A wireframe, your wish is my command
Basically I just created a cylinder, deformed it, and deleted half of it for the front. Extruded straight to the back and cut in the cutouts manually.
Suricata: And then we can show Cryptic what they are missing out on, having dumped or redesigned Eaves' ships

Got a link to his blog?

Still nice work so far
Slowly piecing the shape together...
Good work.

Also, thanks Aresius

Any and all comments are welcome
w00t ....
I've been quite ill the last couple of days, getting better now. Sorry no update just yet.
jay-mo, I know exactly how you feel, I tried modelling that one real quick when Eaves posted it, but went nearly nuts
Can you show us a wireframe? IAâm intrigued how you built the "saucer"... It started with a booleaned sphere, boxmodelling or splines?
