so here it begins... Still got no really good source of information, IA’ll try to come as far as I can with the limited resources.

Not much to show yet, started with the lower saucer. IA’ll work my way up and leave the "hard" stuff (the secondary hull) for later :D

Tobias

Sweet, I hope this will be as amazing as your Kelvin, if not better. Looking good so far, jealousy rising.

    This should be good.

Hopefully, we'll get a rotational view similar to the Kelvin.

Then you'd have the references to do it right !!!

That Primary Hull looks great though.

Your model of the Kelvin caused quite a stir (in a good way) with Trek fans, and I'm sure this one will do the same. Can't wait to see this when it's finished.

Tobias, this blueprint is a fan made one, but it looks to be pretty accurate by my eyes. I'm using it to model a version of this ship myself. Maybe it will be useful to you...

I'm sure I had the same reaction as a lot of people when I saw the thread title and who's doing it: "Oh, mama!"

Looks like a good start, comparing your image with the high-rez shot of the underside of the saucer. Did J.J. send you any extra reference material?? :)

Can you be sure hes not J.J.? :D good start, me likes so far!!

Pixel - these blueprints look great and I used them as a start, but comparing the underside of the saucer with what I modelled after the blueprint didnA’t match at all. So unfortunately at least this part is completely wrong. I matched the camera to the highres shot of the enterprise and go from there - so far this seems to be working well. ItA’ll be difficult in the areas that canA’t be seen of course.

And no, I donA’t have any additional material from JJ - I wish I had.

    I agree.

    Tobias...How about a top view...

    ent_top.png

That is a product shot of a model/toy coming out. You should now have all the views you need for referencing the major components. Every time you start a new model we get new reference of that vessel...neat.:thumb:

    Who's making that Enterprise toy?

    It's being made by Playmates.

This thing already gives me a hard time - from one angle it looks good compared to the few shots we have, but then something else is wrong. IA’ve adjusted a couple of things and modelled the rest of the lower saucer and the rim. Upper saucer tomorrow...

Looks good so far, Tobias. Which part exactly is giving you trouble?

found another reference image at wizarduniverse. i figured it might be helpful because (at least to my eyes) it shows the neck of the ship being even more substantial than some of the profile drawings that have been made up from the trailer/etc.

Yes, but that is a prototype from last year, and so some of the pieces are not correct. The nacelles for instance, and markings on the hull.

However, it will probably be useful for getting overall secondary hull proportions.

IA’ve lined up everything with a 75mm lens so it fits the high res pic. Basic shapes and all fit well, but the windows and the planes lines wonA’t match. I think the highres pic is somehow distorted - maybe a lens distortions. Anyway, IA’ve carefully aligned the windows, canA’t do any more then that.

That prototype is nice, thanks for that - but I think itA’s pretty much off. But keep the Ref pics coming. Considering my "luck" these days, IA’ll be done with modelling when a turntable becomes available, like it happened with the Kelvin
