    Hello there!!

I have been doodling again..and actually completely reworked the model of this ship.
I have decided on a more original type of city ship, with common elements worked in from other sources...
here are the links..please tell me what you think..i've only done some rough work, and haven't actually saved this yet, so that i can be modified quickly...
please do tell me what you think of the pics...

It's a little early to get more than a general sense fron your current low-poly 'rough'.

i prefer the piers on this
    http://www.thelordofeternaldarkness.com/ogsfinalshape.jpg

to your current ones, maybe take the center of your new design and the piers from that one i linked it will then give imo the impression of size, i mean as you said it will take pretty much all the Altera's from there home galaxy.

I agree with him, that version looked great. For that one maybe you could angle some of the piers up or else have some of them bend up-wards in a nice curve and you could make some of the buildings curved to various degrees while still keeping some blockiness on the rest. I hope that helps and this is off-topic but when are you posting an update to your story on the writers forum? Oh and nice work so far:thumb:

    Hello

    you mean, like this?

    http://www.thelordofeternaldarkness.com/ogsv3test2.jpg

its difficult to get it working together, which is taking me time to sort out.but i managed to get the above image rendered, before going to sleep..it's hard to believe that another week has gone, and i'm so far behind in my studies for my next module for uni..bugger..i need to get that sorted..

anyhow, tell me what you think..
off topic..the update will be soon..roughly 2 weeks...my son is not well, work is crap and i'm trying to get into shape...
and there will be some surprises...

    thanks

Well yes but it looks like you've been working on its design some more, very nice:thumb:. Thankfully your son will get better soon and good luck with your studies but your story is too good to stop reading:)

i like it now very nice, add some buildings and we'll see what its like after

also hope your son gets well soon

    Hello again!!!

I've been doing some heavy remodelling, and playing around with the scene itself. I've done some structural changes, which are evident (to me at any rate) and I have done some new renders.
please do tell me what you think. I won't be adding the buildings just yet, as I have yet to get the mix right. I'm sketching them first however, and it seems to be coming out nicely. More on this later.

Im not so sure about the overview. I think it should be more subtle, but i'm having aristic arguments with myself (talking to yourself is really not a good idea when doing this kind of stuff, especially when your wife is nearby!!)

    cc please....

    thanks

Looks alright so far but I'm still biased to your old design, maybe you could add some spaces between certain areas? Nice work.
  • [Deleted User][Deleted User]2 Posts: 3Member
ok theres a lot i could add to what your doing but i would rather you get something thats finished then judge rather then now (well nearly finished before texturing)

    hello!!!

it's late, and i had a few minutes to play around with some building design. what i've come up with is by no means set in stone, as i'm still undecided. just having trouble getting a circular shape out of the polygon, so to speak.

meanwhile, take a look, and tell me what you think.

    Hello everybody

I haven't been able to do much work wise, due to this poxy flu cough type thing, and work getting in the way. I'm on the mend, and managed to do this.
    http://www.thelordofeternaldarkness.com/fountainlight.jpg

tell me what you think. I'm currently experimenting with a thicker pier for the city ship itself, and have been playing with modelling these small lights, which I think are so much cooler than the ones on atlantis.
i'll post it when I find the drawing...

anyhow, have a merry christmas, and a happy new year.

    thanks

i like but i would like to see some progress rather then ideas stick with 2 or 3 you have and develop them further to get an idea of what you want then scrap 1 or 2 you dont like and develop the rest further til you start getting something good

    hello

well, as in all art, it's subjective. I have wanted to change everything and start again, but thats impractical, so I decided to stick with the current design. the piers test is me sticking to a design that i like, as the engines underneath these piers are huge, and I only just cracked the shape last night.
the ends of the piers still dont look right to me..i will take another crack at it to make them more obtuse, so to speak..
the buildings i have been progressing with nicely, sketchwise..3d is totally different...
it's nice to know people want to see something, but it takes time..especially considering the time frame of the ship in question..i've wanted to do organic modelling for many areas, but i've had to drop it for a later time or leave it altogether...
as always..RL will be a thorn..
