  • Redemption scenario

Here's another Star Wars: X-Wing inspired scene. This time it's the Redemption scenario, in which you have to protect several Lambda shuttles and the Corellian corvette Korolev carrying wounded after the narrow evacuation of Brigia, as they dock with the medical frigate to transfer the personnel. During the operation, the Imperial Nebulon-B Warspite starts making quick hyperspace jumps launching waves of TIE bombers and TIE fighters, and one has to be quick in destroying the former because otherwise they'll release such barrages of proton torpedoes that the Korolev will be soon gone, along with most of the wounded you had to keep safe.

Michael A. Stackpole, the writer of the X-Wing series of novels, found it hard to complete the mission successfully so he included it at the beginning of the first novel as a simulated training mission, and it was used as a test to select New Republic pilots for Rogue Squadron. The pilots nicknamed it the Requiem scenario.

Any feedback will be appreciated :)

  • TIE Defender, 'The Force Awakens' style

A friend was wondering today how would a TIE Defender look with white solar panels like the TIE Fighters in the 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' upcoming film, so I decided to retexture a 3D model I had and show him. Of course, instead of just doing that small change I got carried away and tried to imitate the The Force Awakens look as much as I could and made the hull black and reflective, turned the cockpit into a mirror instead of transparent, and since the details were hard to appreciate in the blackness of space, I added a background landscape.

  • Star Wars Stuff

I realised earlier that part of the problem is that the hull is too flat. If you look at pictures of a Venator or an Imperial Star Destroyer you'll see that apart from the plating and all the little bumps, whole sections of the hull are one or two "floors" higher than the rest. Maybe that's what's missing :)

This picture from fractalsponge illustrates it very well:
