@darkthunder - Well, it's Rekkert's call on this one, he can do it as he wishes.
Might want to re-read my post?

    "Okay, suggestion time..."

Never said he must do it according to my above edit. Of course he does it however he see's fit. It was merely... a suggestion!

Really liking the cinematic feel of these most recent screenshots. The design is definitely growing on me, a lot more than the game version ever did.

I suggested earlier, a possible registry number change to "fit canon". Made a short list of plausible Odyssey Class ships, and their likely numbers:

NCC-85050 USS Odyssey (first ship of the class)
    NCC-85051 USS Iliad
    NCC-85052 USS Homer
    NCC-85053 USS Alexander (your ship)

NCC-97000 USS Verity (Admiral Picard's ship)

Goodness gracious... Loving the sleek lines of this Ambassador reboot. Feels even more of a mix of Enterprise(s) that came before it, especially that impulse deck. Only thing really missing is one of those impulse deflection crystals.

Would love to see this as a 3D model. And to borrow an expression from another universe: Love those ample nacelles :)

  • Star Trek News and Rumours

I am NOT the one who decided to politicize a scifi TV show and I'm pretty sure regardless of one's political perspective the average Trek fan doesn't want it in the show.
For someone griping so much about the so-called "left wing woke bs" in modern day Trek shows, clearly never paid attention to the OLD day Trek shows. Or have you conveniently forgotten about the "black on the left side, white on the right side" aliens of TOS, or Kirk and Uhura's infamous kiss etc. Flash forward to TNG, and you have the controversial "Code of Honor" episode, Riker courting a Genaii "female" as an allegory to transgenders, Jadzia and Lenara's kiss in DS9 etc.

Politics has been a part of Trek since the very start. If you have an issue with politics in Trek, you have an issue with Trek. I'd suggest walking away and finding some other form of entertainment devoid of political involvement. Trek has always had, and always will have political allegory to modern day issues. When done right, it can be extremely satisfying (Guinan and Picard's chat regarding slavery in Measure of a Man comes to mind).

Impressive work as always. Love the look and feel of this engine room. Suitable for smaller ships, not just Saber classes. I'd imagine something similar on a Steamrunner or Norway class.

One suggestion I have, is maybe adding a "Warp diagnostic assembly" or two to the handrail around the core, similar to the one
seen in Voyager? (from episode 'Concerning Flight' in Voyager's 4th season)

Thanks for the kind comments! I went ahead and re-rendered my older Type 7 and Type 15 models, just so they fit with the same style as these, and did orthos as well. They're really old models, with some really terrible work in some areas, but oh well, I did update them a little back when I did the Potemkin shuttlebay. That Type 7 Bussard area still bothers me though, it's all sorts of wrong.

I rather like the short stubby look of that Type 7 myself. Only question I have, is how does one enter/exit? I'd assume the rear of the shuttle has the impulse engine, but I see no doors on the sides.

EDIT: Because I'm dumb, didn't read all the replies that came after your images. Including the answer to my question.

  • Variant Voyager J

One minor nitpick, I think the registry on the saucer would look nicer if it wouldn't "overlap" onto the sides. This ship appears to have very sharp angles, compared to the original Voyager. Nice seeing this design fleshed out a bit, as Season 3 had a serious lack of detail for most ships, in addition to being overly darkly illuminated making it even harder to make out any details.

Current location of the replicator, would probably benefit by having a smaller display screen instead, with the main screen being on the big wall between the doors. In keeping with what was shown in early TNG, will this table have built-in holo projection capability? Loved that feature in TNG, but didn't really appear again in later episodes/shows.

  • Odyssey Class

The "design" isn't bad, but STO has always been rather hit-or-miss when it comes to texturing. Their most recent texture updates to ships like the Galaxy or Sovereign are of course of higher standard. The ingame Odyssey Class texturing is kinda "meh". Hopefully this version comes off more like a Galaxy in terms of quality

  • Star Trek: Lower Decks [Spoilers]

To quote one of the characters in the season finale... It's been a long time, getting from there to here ;)

Wasn't too optimistic about the show before it aired, but I've been happily surprised by just how good the show actually is. Yes, it's got a bit of "potty mouth" on occasion, but who cares? It's the stories and characters we care about. One of whom was the MVP and The Boss of the episode. May Your Winds be on your back.

I look forward to it's 2nd season (and hopefully beyond). Just wish they would have more episodes in a season.
