So opened this back up to have a tinker, tweaked the materials yet again the lighting aswell as the scene so its back to looking more cinematic once again (keep it simple stupid) i might try to burn out some sequences finally but no promises as i may loose intrest but hey atleast there is some eyecandy to look at for now
Spent yday rebuilding the material setup textures and lighting so not much added to the model itself except for some running lights but here is some eyecandy anyway
Still from a higher sample flyby i am rendering over night, combining the nebula the warp streaks and the original flyby hopefully i got the timing of the streaks down so they dont look to off but i guess ill see tomorrow morning but going by this still the sample rate seems ok for 3min/frame
Still tinkering with geo but its starting to come alive, and im thinking maybe ill call it an odyssey "variant" as ive deviated quite a bit from the in-game model at this point especially around the saucer impulse exhausts and i think i prefer it my way with a few more curves rather then a straight off angled cut as it is in game (i allways thought that looked out of place compared to the ships that came before)
So some progress made... aswell as some obvious changes such as me changing the secondary impulse exhausts from being inside the nacelle pylons which to me is beyond stupid as i dont see how there is any room in there for impule engines... and instead taking advantage of the unused areas at the rear of the secondary hull and to me that makes more sense also she has the turning radious of a fridge in game so if she wont turn atleast she should be fast in a straight line imo so 4x impulse ftw! also excuse the shitty nature of my panel texture it is temporary and i will do something better looking before i wrap this project up but i wanted to see it with something for now, also still lots of detail to add on the ventral side of the saucer aswell as some other micro details in certain areas to sell scale and add more depth aswell as detailing the deflector but i think i can see the light at the end of the tunnel finally
and i think we can all agree i have deviated enough from the original that it would def be called a refit or a variant at this point
pimped out the deflector dish, gave up on the idea of making it out of full geometry as i just cba to sort the geo needed and instead went with a similar setup to the nacelles, i also added what i asume are torpedo launchers on the game model just below the dish.
