I'm now getting SOME free time. I'm still pretty tired, but I've started yet another insane project. The USS Enterprise from Where No Man Has Gone Before, the second Star Trek pilot ship.
It's just a start.
(*EDIT* I added a picture to change the thumbnail for the discussion.)
Did a little more work today. It might not show as readily apparent, but I'm happy with the progress so far. I am itching to start making textures!
I have noticed that when I compare the plans to some screen captures, the little side green light is too large. It was there during the series, but it was at least half the size, if not even smaller. I'll correct that soon.
I've gone back and reimaged the sequence. I wanted the lights in the ship's windows to show a little better.
I've always wanted to make this sequence and do it with some justice to the original. In other words, I hope I'm close.
When I splice it into the correct spot and render it all out as a movie in the original episode, it gets all jittery. I need to fix that. Once I've got that fixed, I'll show the short movie.
It's been a LONG time since I've posted anything. I've had a couple of setbacks with health, but am pretty good now ... except for memory. (Yikes!)
But I still love Star Trek and still enjoy making the occasional image, so here is my interpretation of the USS Enterprise model during the filming of Where No Man Has Gone Before.
Oddly, even though I've been thinking throughout the week about how much I wanted to work on the model, when the weekend got here (I've been on call all week) I was too tired!
But, I changed the angulation and placement of the pylons and changed the positioning of the temporary warp engines. I did a couple of quick test renders to see how they compared with screen captures, even though I have no idea about the camera type nor the lenses used in the original series. Anyway, I figure they're close enough to warrant continuing. But, I'm open to opinions.
