Made the lighting on the Enterprise a little more TOS-like, instead of dark and contrasted. :) And yes, the planet is rotating wrong in the last shot, but eh, I think it adds to the imperfections in TOS. :)

    The planet is very beautiful.
To move the clouds over the planet?

Thanks. I'm not sure I understand your question... how did I do it? If so, it's a separate sphere with the clouds on it, that spins slightly faster than the surface sphere, rendered out separately and composited (including the cloud shadows) in AE.

Yes OK. I wanted to know.

I liked your first take better with the darkness and the contrast. I thought it was very pretty!

Also, if this is for Miri, there shouldn't be any lights. All the tech died with the adults 200 years before! (I think ...)

In any case, VERY nice and impressive work!

Yea, but I thought I'd go after a more TOS-look, with the even-ish lighting.

Now that you mention, you're right... haha. Need to fix that. :p

    Thanks. :D

The effects were wildly uneven, even if they showed the same clip! It all depended upon the processing, how many new overlays they added, and how old the original effects were.

This is why I keep screen captures of the effects handy. Here you can see that the processing of the same shot for different spots within the episode show differently.

Not arguing, just saying, you can pick what you like and no doubt find something to back that choice up within the series!

True, true. :) I'm taking a page from Doug Drexler's book when it comes to lighting shots for STC, lighting it like it was lit on a stage and adding the DOF effect to it as if it's a 12 foot model. :D

    Very nice work!

I am terrified for the people of Earth2 as I fear they will be flung into the void from the speed of the planet's rotation! LOL! (Kidding!)

    It really does look good.

Interesting tips from Doug Drexler. Essentially that's what I try to do.

I've decided to give this a shot... a good chance to put Video Copilot's new "Saber" plugin to use. :) This WIP video might be the first for a while, because I need to get all the Borg Cube stuff ready, like the Borg Sphere hatch created, etc. I'm going to really put as much effort as I can into this project.

I'm working on the Borg Cube, trying to get it to looking good... not many detailed (textured or modeled) First Contact-like Borg Cubes...

Slowly working on this, and unfortunately, this may be the last video you see from me in a long time... certain life situations will make it very hard to continue... but I will do my best. :)

Slowly completing this... I recently got a job, so I'll be working Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday's. I also had to redo my computer a week or so ago because something went all wonky with Windows. For some reason embedding got turned off by default for my videos, that should be corrected now. :)

It has been a long time since I've posted an update video, but I've been busy and into gaming a lot lately, combined with a job... I am going to finish this project though. :D

I will finish the First Contact sequence, but wanted to do this little sequence and extrapolate the battle from outside the Flyer.

Not exactly science fiction, but I got the model converted and the textures reapplied, along with the mori animation. Full render coming soon.

I've been trying to work on this, but again, one needs the time, and between work and other stuff, it's kind of taken a back burner, which annoys me, but work comes first.
