Hi Brandenberg, good to see you back, and apologies for the issues you're seeing around uploads. At the moment the staff ate troubleshooting a database/forum issue preventing image attachments from working. We hope to have this up and running again as soon as possible, but in the meantime I recommend you check out this thread from MadKoiFish, who has put together an excellent walkthrough for using common hosting solutions as a stand-in for the upload manager this version of vBulletin is using (or trying to use...)
"Perfect. Then that's the way it shall be."

The upload is working again. Nice. Thanks Samurai for the above information and I will no doubt do just what you suggest. Just haven't had time yet. In this post was intermediate progress on the Cardassian Station. A more complete model is below.

Welcome back man! Been a long time. :) Always liked this design. Looks like a great start. Looking forward to seeing updates!

Thanks you two. I started the end pieces of the station and you can see them in the render at the bottom of this page (removed an intermediate render in this post). There actually are some fairly decent pictures of this to work from.

    Looking great. :)

I took at look at Memory Alpha the other day after you posted this, because I couldn't remember what it looked like on the show. This is a really cool station.

Looking pretty close to the references I've got - nice work. I've uploaded a few reference shots I've got on the off chance you haven't got any of them. There's a good one of the model in harsh lighting that gives you a good idea of the detailing.

Thanks. I worked pretty hard to get it just like the Orthos from Drex files. Comco, one of your references shows the bottom more clearly than the one I have. So thanks. There were three pics I didn't have. The others I do. So thanks.

Very cool. I like how it's similar in style to, yet clearly different from DS9.

    Agreed!

It's not done yet. There is a confusing piece to this model - By that I mean, different versions. See the picture below.

I noticed the same thing. I think you've just got to go with what you like better - the thing had such little screen time I think you could get away with a lot in terms of the detailing. You've already got the basic shape nailed. :thumb:

A little UV mapped and non-mapped color. Lighting in the ship bays.

Looking great. I like the color, it looks pretty darn close to what we saw on screen. :)

My next project is the Klingon Tanker from Enterprise (Episode Maurauders).
  • evil_genius_180evil_genius_1804256 Posts: 11,034Member
Sweet! That tanker is one of my favorite ships from Enterprise.

Here is a Pic from the tanker :thumb:

I am rapidly discovering that there are parts of this ship that are unknown. The "Enterprise" Episode "Marauders" Shows ONE flyby that gives you a quick look at the bottom and sides from an angle. It is a little helpful, but there are blind spots on the Orthos. Soooooo.... Some of this is going to be made up. Anyway, here is the forward nose section. Two angles.

Oh, and Trekki, Thanks for the orthos picture. Yours turned out to be clearer than the ones I had for some reason.

Nice start on the command area. :)

Yeah, this ship wasn't featured a whole lot. It was the tanker in one episode. Then it came back as the D5 (minus the tanks) late in Season 2, I think, and in Season 4, but it didn't get a whole lot of screen time in either configuration.

I couldn't resist doing the tanks next

    Very good start
Do you have to publish the object? Otherwise I will try to build it. I find Klingon ships really cool.
    best regards
    Trekki

I like that station more than DS9 itself..
  • BrandenbergBrandenberg1655 CaliforniaPosts: 1,937Member
Not sure what you mean by publish it. You can make a model of the ship too if you like.

I'm pleased you like the station.

I added the wings on the Klingon tanker.
