For the time being, the 'Way of the Warrior' DS9 battle VFX video is being put on hold, I'm currently working on other projects that I can't discuss and so WotW is too complex to do at the same time, so I will be putting it on hold for the time being. However, I will still work on smaller less complex VFX videos so as to not leave people hanging.
I'm thinking of revisiting the TMP wormhole sequence again, it's been a couple years since I last did my last go at it... so I think it'd be interesting to revisit it and see what I can turn out.
Thanks.

Still working on the look of the wormhole itself... have kinda reduced the "super ripples," I'm looking to an alternative method to doing the effect... but not sure yet. The rippling seems to vanish the higher the polygon count is from smoothing the geometry, but I don't want it to be thousands if not millions of polygons...

The plugin was literally just released and I was able to quickly create a first work in progress TNG-era phaser beam within minutes, all with one plugin.

I didn't bother looking at this plugin because I don't have money for plugins, then took another look after seeing your post only to find it's completely free. Just watched the tutorial and installed it myself. Looks amazing!

What I don't understand is why he didn't make it so you could glow anything. Seems like you need a mask input to glow something. For instance, it doesn't look like you could take a 3D render of Warp Engine Grills and just apply Saber as a glow effect. Will you still have to use Real Glow for stuff like warp engines?

Yea, a plugin this feature rich and free, it's amazing.

Yea, I doubt you can use it on a render pass, unless you can create masks from alpha channels, then if you render out your pass with alpha channels, but I love Real Glow, so I'd use it regardless.

It's been a long time since I've posted an update WIP... been rather busy with things. I think it is as good as I'm going to get the wormhole to look, without continuing to spend an inordinate amount of time on it.

I'm still working on this... only got like 3-4 shots left... but I've been really really, I mean really busy. With all sorts of things. I think I exported it out with the pixel ratio... as it's 1920 x 1090... O.o

It has been a while since I've updated you all on this project, not much has been completed, as I've been sidetracked with quite a lot, now the CBS/Paramount crap is shady, so... I do plan to finish this project, I've only got two shots left and they're really simple shots to do.

Nice, that looks great, the distortions look spot on. How come the torpedo is white though? Is that how it was in TMP? Has been a while since I watched it last.

Well, it's white-ish. lol

Still perfecting the look of the wormhole... I have the geometry down, etc. just need to work on the actual lighting, etc. of the wormhole.
Thanks.

Nice work!
Video Copilot released a Star Wars model pack, mainly for Element 3D, but it includes OBJ files, BB-8 is one of the models. Kinda in an earthquake.
