The clean textures for my D2 are done and IA’m kinda sick of doing textures for now since thatA’s all IA’ve done for the last three ships I worked on. I need to build something. So I decided to do my version of the Kronos 1 study model that popped up not too long ago.

Rob, are you talking about this concept: http://www.trekbbs.com/showthread.php?t=240808 ?
  • XFozzbouteXFozzboute654 Posts: 1,627Member
Yes I am. It won't be the same but close.
    UPDATE...
More of the bridge section done. Most of the shapes are finalized. It’s starting to look like some kind of building to me.

Interesting concept, but I feel the missing of naceles and two necks looks strange.
By other side, naceles and just one neck will make her to much similar to the old and good kA’tinga. :)

I'm thinking about adding naceles if I come up with something I like. And I plan on beefing up the two necks.

    UPDATE...
I think I’m just about done with this part. I might add a small bit or two not sure yet.

    UPDATE...
The bridge section is about as done as I need it to be for now.
    2211.jpg
Now I’m working on more of the front of the ship.

I always thought it was strange that Klingon ships have these towers at the front that clearly have a circular deck plan... but every time we've seen inside one, they have non-circular control spaces.

They're Klingons, not Vulcans. Logic isn't their thing. :D

Nice choice for a project. Can't wait to see this fleshed out in 3d. Looks good so far.

Here’s a close up of the bridge.

    UPDATE...
I figured this was far enough along I could move it to mental ray. I made the bulb under the bridge.
    2217.jpg
I also added the beginning of weapons and started on the neck.

I imagined this thing a lot bigger, but I like the scale you're using. Looking good.

this was the original design for kronos 1 in the star trek 6 then? looks to have more interesting features than the one in the film, that double "neck" with a beam coming from each side of the bridge rather than a single central one looks great.

    UPDATE...
I’ve refined some of the hull detail.

Well spent another week in the hospital. Found out I have a blood clot in my leg that caused me to have a bunch in my lungs making it very hard for me to breath. And while I was there I found out I might also have cancer in my liver. Fun ****ing year so far.
    UPDATE...
I got a little bit more done on Kronos 1.

Got more work done on this thing. Mainly a few bits to the head of the ship. And I’ve started to work on the shapes of the neck.

    UPDATE..
Well things are going well so far, I’m now down to only two more chemo sessions. But then I’ll need another CT scan to see how things went and have to have checkups every three months for I don’t know how long. But for now I feel great. Anyway….
I added a few details to the bottom of the secondary hull.
    2363.jpg
And here is a a shot with more stuff on the neck and the beginning of the secondary hull. I may dump that ridge going down the center, I don’t care for it much.

I’ve added a few more details under the command section.
    2365.jpg
I also did a little bit more of the secondary hull.

Nice. That's how I model too.

Intriguing..... If I see it right, these ... pylons? struts? are only about a gangway, or turbolift shaft... Techically a huge structural weakpoint. Weaker than the usual neck.

Or maybe they retract while in in flight, and this image he showed us is actually after the struts/pylons retracted? I think that might be the case.

    UPDATE...
    A little bit more work.
    2369.jpg
Here’s a look at what is the impulse engine and maybe a shuttlebay.

    UPDATE...
I added a little bit more to the neck and I think it works. I also started a bit on the bulby part.
