Why all that empty space off on the port side?

Just getting started... Right now doing some research on real nautical bridges for some inspiration and authenticity

Well, if that's a chart table off on the starboard side there, perhaps some sort of near-space traffic monitoring system should go to port?

So, these people don't have workable holographic tech? 'cause the best way to represent three-dimensional navigation is as a three-dimensional chart.
  • BlueNeumannBlueNeumann615 Posts: 1,275Member
The "2D" display probably shows a 3-dimensional image, like you're watching a movie, but I think floating see-through holographic technology will be limited to the high-tech ships of that universe. If I had to guess.

They've thrown the cheapest of the cheap in this thing, so a 2d chart table is not unusual..

However, maybe by then Nintendo has branched off into other fields.. this is the Nintendo 3DS-pace display... able to have you seeing stars and give you a headache at the same time - they later produced the 2DS-pace because most navigators just ripped out the 3D stuff on the original anyway... :D

    That's a great explanation!

you could also have projection onto some sort of visor which the operator wears, the table below merely being for the more detailed high resolution stuff. which can be orientated to show whatever plane through 3d space is nearest to the course that will be plotted.

According to this article on the BBC News website the crew accounts for 44% of the costs of running a freighter. The rest makes interesting reading as well.

Cool. Thanks for the link, it certainly makes since...

nice design for the bridge and it's support sections, could work well on many ship designs.

Plenty of room on the hull for those little ships to stick 'emselves onto.

    What's the exterior bumper thing?

I invision this as a living thing, which grows out from the original hull shape like the rings of a tree. So there will be more growth added before I'm done.

I was also thinking in terms of having the outer rings brisseling with cannons....
