Trying to get back into the 3D modelling game.
How are things here at scifi-meshes?

It looks good so far. What makes it a variant? IE: what's different from the CG model they used on the show?

    Welcome back old friend! ;)
The modelling is looking fine, as I would expect from you. But, as Chris asked, what makes her a variant?

Good modelling, I think it might be the escape pods.

I guess he's put an observation lounge or some sort of large windowed room where the impulse engine should be, indicating the engine or engines will be placed elsewhere.

Good work so far btw scaramanga. I like how you've taken an established, well balanced design and not frakked it up claiming to make it better like so many do here.

I like where this is going. I love the Nova class, I have my Nova variant but its different than this if you want to see orthos of mine let me know. Ill keep watching this thread.

Actually it's still an engine :)

I would not mind having a look at your ortho's Lonewriter. I am curious though, how did you make the grid lines on your hull? I'm not entirely satisfied with the look of mine (basically made the shape and then boolean them).

Very nice start, as everyone has already said... the Nova-Class is a great little ship.

Interesting, looks more like large lounge type windows... but hey... can't wait to see how you get on with this.

Yea, I've used the impuls engine design in an older version of my model a few years ago. I kind of liked it so I'm reusing the idea (i've attached an old render). I've tried out a different method of modeling the grid, I'm quite satisfied with it. Might do another version in more steps to make it look smoother.

That's looking real nice. The grids especially. Mine have never looked that good!

Would have uploaded these sooner. But it was difficult to get onto the forums.

Yeah, the forums have been having serious problems for a while now.
