Lightwave mesh of human

I just need a simple, low-res mesh of a human- something I can stick in a spaceship and make it look like a pilot. Due to the heavy cockpit glare, I won't need anything fancy. Just wondering if someone came across a free person mesh thing that they're willing to share. If anybody can help, then I'll be in their gratitude up to here:
:notworthy:

Cheers,
Sonic

Have you looked at Make Human? It ain't wonderful, but it's effective, and it's free.

Yeah, but MakeHuman meshes are so high poly. Foundation 3D has some lightwave people. I don't know if they're what you're looking for, though.

use mine. its in the download section, in bsg. its max format. just export it in obj/fbx.
its perfect for filling a too empty cockpit.

It looks perfect, but I can't get it into a file that LW understands

If you can get it into .3ds, .obj or .fbx format, (you could always use a trial version of Max or something) you can use AccuTrans to convert it to Lightwave format. .max is one of the file formats it won't open.

i can get it to 3ds/obj/fbx, but you'll loose the rig, and you'll have to vertex edit it in placeinstead of using bones.
i'll see if i still have it at home.

There is a fairly low poly one for the Second Life 3D environment (it is not quite an MMORPG since there is no overall 'game' to it though it is often called one). It is a mess compared to modern meshes but it is relatively easy to skin and comes in .obj and ac3d formats here:
    http://ccccybernetics.com/avatar_databank/
and in .blend on other sites (like http://blog.machinimatrix.org/ ).

The UVs for it are here: http://www.robinwood.com/Catalog/Technical/SL-Tuts/SLPages/AVUVTemplates.html

The CCC Cybernetics and Machinimatrix sites have the bone rigs too.

I can rig it myself- I just need a good textured pilot model. if you can get it into a file LW understands that would be great.

Any lightwave user who is going to use characters needs to learn to bone a mesh. And yes, for the pruriently minded, it does have that sub-context in American English, as well.

Like I said- I can rig it myself.

here goes the man. obj and fbx.
use the maps from dl section. the uvs should still be intact, but i dont know how lightwave will import the objects. again, you'll loose some subtilities included in the max files, like a bunch of morphers (blendshapes), and the materials.

have fun and remember to credit.

File opened okay... no textures tho... just one UV map called "uv_01" which seems to cover the helmet...

you may have to rebuild the materials.
i usualy name my maps pretty obviously (_bmp for bump, _normal for normal, _shine for specular), you shouldnt have a bad time rebuilding them.
all the textures can be found in the rar file

...sorry for all the trouble, but I've decided that I don't need a pilot visible because of my *ahem* laziness- *ahem* I mean the shielding in the cockpit... But seriously L2K I am in your debt for helping me with this... It's not much, but better than just gratitude...

I would post a withering retort to that, but I can't think of anything at the moment...

No, I'm trying to post a .lws for scifi scenes. you can probably open it with .fbx, but It wont upload.
