Panel lines on aircraft?

InvertedVantageInvertedVantage0 Posts: 0Member
What's the best way to model panel lines and rivets on aircraft? How should I go about doing it?
I can use;

sub-d
poly
NURBs
Parametric solid

...which should I do and how should I go about it? I would really prefer to know how to do it in sub-d/polies, since I've always wondered how it's done. can anyone explain those at least, or point me to some tutorials? Thanks! :)

    on aircraft the norm is to do it with bump maps

    yeah the difference in modeled rivets and panels vs bump maps would be negligible in terms of final product, while the amount of effort and time spent modeling would be above and beyond necessary
    if you need an extreme closeup, only model the area that needs it . . . save yourself some time :D

    I'm going to be making molds with the model, that's why I need it to be in the mesh and not a bump map, please. :)
