The SA-66 "Super StarFury" was designed as a replacement for the venerable SA-23.
Engineers at Mitchell-Hyundyne, eschewed the deep-atmosphere capability of the Thunderbolt in favor of a new reaction engine system supplemented by gravitic and magnetic technology gained from the Interstellar Alliance.
The SA-66 had nearly three times the acceleration capabilities of an SA-23E, supplemented by a gravitic compensation system that allows Super Star Fury pilots to endure much greater G-Forces.
"Fat-Furies" served in limited numbers during the Drakh crisis, and went on to become the mainstay of the Earth Alliance fighter force until they were supplanted by the Lock-NorGrum FG-2 in the late 2290s, marking the end of the StarFury line.
SA-66A BuNo. 64-1049 Was delivered to Earth Alliance Transfer Station Europa in 2265. Damaged by Lumatti raiders during the Hustler Incident, it was remanded to the EarthForce Technical Institute on Luna. It served as a crew and maintenance trainer until being donated to the Smithsonian Air & Space museum in 2282, having never fired a shot in anger.
