Hi guys,

It's been a long time since I posted anything, a lot has happened in my live, but now all seems cool again

Here is just a short video showing my Wall-E running in Maxwell Fire preview window.
It's perfect for setting up a scene, and than start the final production render

and preview screen shot:

He looks too clean. Is this a new-production WALL-E?

Hi Dr Lee and Jennifer, thanks! My Wall-E is going to be a brand new just out of the box one.

That's really impressive work, there. However, I do believe that WALL-E was orange even to begin with. I love those track treads . . .

    Hi Locke,

Thanks so much, and I totally agree about the color!
    Here is a better one:

Right now, the yellow/orange bits feel a bit too plasticy...
  • nico-r44nico-r44179 Posts: 157Member
Indeed Randy, later on I'll add some nice scratches and stuff, so you can see some metal and rust here and there.
    Here is just another angle:

walle looks great. just a detail... if its going to be brand new, shouldnt the caterpillars be brand new as well ? they look rusty and dirty rght now...

    Thanks L2K!

Nha the tracks should be rusty, like with a new tank, same thing :-)
And another important point, I like them this way ;-) lol

Btw, here is some geometry info:
    - Num Meshes: 159
    - Num Triangles: 1819682
    - Num Vertexes: 916657
    - Num Normals: 636949
    - Num Materials: 24

I don't know about the rust because when we used to get new tracks for our old M113's they came with a thin factory applied coating that was kind of a greenish colour. We never had rust on any new tracks. Now, if they had been hanging around in the shop for a few months getting shuffled around the coating would wear off in places and it could start to rust a little bit.

Why are you keeping his eyes turned away from the camera?
  • nico-r44nico-r44179 Posts: 157Member
hehe cool cavebear, I was a chauffeur on a YPR 765 pri back in 1989 with a 25mm gun, and like you say, when stored in the shop they get rusty ;-).

Hey Jenny, he's got no head at this momen ;-) that's why :-)

Hey Bug! yeah it's been a while, but I really want to finally finish Wall-E, before the second film comes out.....lol....

Er... the writer / director has several times said that there won't be a WALL-E sequel.

Well then, that should give him plenty of time to get this done. Looking great so far.

I think that the tracks/wheels should be a tad bit bigger.
  • nico-r44nico-r44179 Posts: 157Member
Hi Randy, measurements are taken from a highly detailed and accurate model (using a caliper) and also studio scetch drawings :-)
    Here's another update:

Just a small update on the head base, next is the laser assembly

Here is a small sketch of what it should look like:

This sketch is not exactly correct, but it's a good indication

    As you can see here:
