I do have 1 crit about the pic, its more of an accuracy issue.

Im not in the pic as ace pilot. other than that looks awsome. now load specs in to autocad and make a real one. lolz.

Cant wait to see textures added to this thing.

Thanks very much Guys !! :thumb:, .. Sorry updates have been at a crawl lately ... but will pick up the pace soon, ...

    @ Docprice:

Get someone to take some Hi-Res Orth shots of your head, .. i.e Front, Back, Left & Right, ... And i'll see what I can do later to have you sitting in it :D .. Just PM me about that if you want ....

I got inspired by Armondikov & DCB's work on their Land Raiders and decided to get mine underway .... just wanting a break from Organic modelling with the Bloodthirster ... but It's all part of the same project, so will be reaching a common goal ....

Nothing too exciting yet, .. but its just to kick off the beginnings of the Inquisitorial Land Raider Prometheus, .... The Paint scheme for this one is shown in the WIP Pic ...

A list of Vehicles for the planned Sequence / Scenes are below, ....

    Vehicles:

    Thunderhawk Transporter (Grey Knight version)
Land Raider Mk V Prometheus - (Inquisitorial version) - WIP
Land Raider MK V (Reinforced Armour version - Grey Knight markings)
    Land Speeder Tempest MK1 - (Transporter escort x 2) - WIP

    Main Characters for the scenes:

Ordo Malleus Inquisitor Lord Hector Rex (Leading the Grey Knights)
Grey Knight Space Marines (Troop Specialist support) - WIP
Grey Knight Terminator (Elite Specialist support)
    Bloodthirster (Chaos Yob) - WIP

Should I just give up now or are you not intending to do the Land Raiders to the same standard that I'm going to aim for? :p
  • DCBDCB331 Posts: 0Member
Probably best just to give up. I'm pouring petrol over my whole computer right now.

I'm just finishing up book 3 of the Horus Heresy novel series, so I'm getting plenty of background on turning my back on things at the moment.

    @ Road Warrior:

Thanks mate !!, ... will try not to disappoint ...

    @ Armondikov:

    :p

    @ DCB:

For the Hamster's sake, dont torch the PC !! ....

Want to see updates of your Land Raiders soon ... Since we're all doing different versions, keeps things interesting, ...

Updated the first WIP pic for the Land Raider, .. a bit more interesting visually, plus did a few adjustments that are now OK to move on ...

Is that a spline I see there in the wireframe?
  • ArmondikovArmondikov0 Posts: 0Member
That is true, we are all doing different variants. Though at least you have a marine you can stick in the turret!
  • BinkermanBinkerman0 Posts: 0Member
    @ DCB:

Yep, ... that Cyan coloured one that outlines the next section ... You'll notice that the wireframe of the first section with the Door hatches the outside edges have not been touched, because that second section, once sorted, and the door section will be welded together, .. not simply slapped on top of each other ...

    @ Armondikov:

You've started a Black Templar marine of your own back in 2007, ... You could just finish off his top half to have a gunner for your Land Raider, .... thats all you really need anyway, .... and then finish the rest of him off at a later date, if you plan on some full length shots / scenes of him later .....

I totally forgot about that one. I may go back to it and give it another go.

I'm an oldschool box modeller. My entire hull side was made from a single cube primitive with lots of extrusions. Never did quite grasp the point modelling approach. Probably one reason why I suck at organic modelling.
  • BinkermanBinkerman0 Posts: 0Member
    @ Armondikov:

Yeah, you were almost there modelling his top half, ...

    @ DCB:

Box Modelling is effective, ... and is quite a common method for organics .... If anything you'd be good at organics, ... There are different methods of achieving similar results, ... and just pick the method that works best for you, ... I usually combine different methods into the one model ...

Did a quick test of the colour scheme on part of the model using the actual image Ref ... Have no intentions of actually using the ref for textures of course, .... but can easily match it for high resolution maps later, .... I only have the side view for colour Reference, .. but that's enough to work with for the look of this vehicle, .... The render shows the basic paint job using the ref as Diffuse & Bump to bring out the scribing along the panel work .... but will be doing various maps to bring it to life later ....

Anyway, it was just something I was messing about with and thought id post it .... Will be trying to get a fair bit of the modelling done before the weekend for the next update ....

Well, that does look rather nice now dunnit? The little dents and scratches? Bomp? Displace? Or normals generated through zbrush?
  • BinkermanBinkerman0 Posts: 0Member
Only a bump has been used, ... Will look alot better when I get to do the Hi-res textures .... Probably wont be needing ZBrush for this, ... maybe just the Badges but thats about it, .... the other maps can all be done with MAX, .... been having one of those late nights, ... messing about with renders ... so posting another pic for the hell of it ... half asleep atm having a cup of tea and some toast :D ...

    ^Quickly! More renders!

Well... two thumbs up from me mate! :thumb::thumb:

Well, apart from the odd part where it doesn't line up (the seal that crosses the door frame and, obviously, the sponson where there is no sponson) that seems a perfectly reasonable way to texture your stuff. The result isn't half bad for a "test".

    Very nice work mate.

I'll have to pop into 40K shop and see if the prise have come down.

    ROFLMAO

Oh you brought a tear to my eye with that one!

(Prices are/have going/gone up. Especially for the metal models recently.)

And Binkerman, great work, but I think that those Heavy Bolter-barrels are a little obvious on the tex.

Yeah I know, but 20 years ago I bought a Rhino for a Aï¿¡5 this was plastic. A month later it had gone up to Aï¿¡15 to Aï¿¡30 and stayed that way for a long time.

Iwant to see if it gone back down to a decent prise for some plastc and no metal.

I must admit that I dont know jack about Warhammer but I must say these models of yours and the general look of the warhammer universe is pretty damn cool. Keep it coming Jas!

LOL, in a few years buying something from GW will go something like this:

-Hi, I'd like to buy that blister with tree marines.
-Sure thing, that'll be one kidney and an eye ball. Just sign this and go lie over there, our friendly staff-surgeon will be with you shortly.
Since you'll have no more depth perception, may we offer our premium assembly and painting service? A complementary heredetary century payment plan can be set up if you wish?
