3DShips of the U.E.G.

Thought I'd get around to rebuilding some of my original ship designs.
The first ship I decided to start on is the M'Aangan fighter.

The history is kind of rough at the moment.
The M'Aangan race is the first exra-terrestrial life form encountered by the Human race. This encounter took place a few years after the Explorer class ship Christopher Columbuswas thought lost to an explosion. This explosion, instead of destroying the Columbus opened a hole in space and sucked the Columbus into M'Aangan occupied terratory.
After floating nearly dead in space for 18 months a M'Aangan freighter found the ship and towed it back to the nearest inhabited world. Over several months the crew of the Columbus, still kept alive by their failing cryotubes are revived and their ship repared with the addition of Earths first FTL drive. This drive will become known as a jump engine.
The first use of this Jump engine will return the Columbus and her crew to Earth escorted by two Ships of the Royal M'Aangan Navy. Shortly after these incidents the United Earth Government is formed and the M'Aangan become it's greatest ally.

The M'Aangan are a humanoid race. The males are an average height of 8 feet and the females are an average height of 7 feet. Both sexes have deep blue eyes and long black hair, the males keep there hair tied back. They are considered beautiful by many but this could be caused by a pheromone that adjusts to whatever race might be near. They have a very limited control over this pheromone and it is not sex specific. Meaning a male pheromone
can effect either male or female of another race. One of the few known races that this has no effect on is the Sckrow, a small reptilian race. Because of this the Sckrow hate the M'Aangan.

Normaly a very open race who freely gives it technology to other races. The one thing unknown about their technology is their fighter craft. Pilots for these fighters have never been seen. This leads many to believe that the ships are piloted by remote or have a biolagical brain that is grown within the ship. These fighters have no FTL drive but when needed several of these fighters can be attached to an external FTL drive. This device is called the death blossom. These ships normaly work in groups of five or more.
The weapon systems of thses ships can be slaved together to hit a single target. One ship will move forward of the rest and paint a target. All other ships will lock to this target automaticly. This can effectivly keep the other ships at a safe enough distance while fireing. This can also be used for recon by sending the intelligence to the support craft.

The first four pics are of the original ship.

My first thought was the Gen Greivous' cycle in SW:III - but forget that,

Very gun-heavy, but not to the point of being fan-boy-wet-dream'ish, I like it, I appreciate any design that takes a different orientation to the conventional - the verticallity of this fighter is nice. :thumb:

To be honest i wasn't even thinking about the Last Starfighter. I just imagined when the fighters separate from the FTL drive it might look like a flower in bloom.

I used to have that toy too.

I came up with this design years before Greivous, but the idea isn't all that original anyway.:D
The reason for the amount of weapons is I was thinking the side weapons are long range and the smaller more forward weapons are for short range. The long range weapons can also be switched out for even longer ranged laser like guns for use against capital ships.

    UPDATE...
I don't know how much will be actually updated or changed. I just think over the last few years I've learned a few more things and can do a better job on the ship. Even with textures I think with what I know now that will be the biggest improvement.
I wanted to add more to the engine than I had before.

the third pic is just an engine effects test.

The attached pic is and old one showing my original thoughts on the death blossom in flight.

Well I started to rebuild another of my old ships for a contest over at 3D Gladiators and since it belogs to this universe I might as well post here. It's a crago ship.
It was first used to help colonize the moon but was also later used to help colonize Mars. Since being decommisioned the ship has become a collectors item. Some owners still run cargo but for most it's become an RV and once a year owners gather around the moon like some owners of classic cars will do and show off paint jobs and special modifications.

The owners who do run cargo will do what they call "pushing the train" by running as many containers as they can. An extra set of booster engines can be set every six containers.

Yeah a few others have siad that. Mainly because of the two big engines hanging way out there. As goofy as it is that's a great movie.

I know what Cthulhu is but I've never heard of Cthulhu Tech.

    UPDATE...
Here's a little bit more work done. Unfortunately the drain in my laundry room backed up so I spent most of the night cleaning it up.
I added an airlock to the front and back cargo container. I haven't gotten around to doing the main entrance of the containers yet but the first and last ones are perminately sealed anyway. These containers also have the landing thrusters attached to them.

I have a cat with a Fuzzy Butt but the work it produces is anything but good.

Great ship designs XFozzboute. Very original.

    Now that's looking nice mate!

    Thank you.

    UPDATE...
Did a bunch of work on the back part. One of the things I added was a third hatch. I also added a bunch of nav lights and finished off the liquids cargo container. I also added some details to the bottom of the containers because they where a little bland before. The added second set of engines are just a test to see if the smaller booster rockets will work. Building the booster connections and getting rid of a few polygons should finish off the work I'm doing. For now.

Yay. Nice ships ya got t'ere lad! Ah love t'is type o' cargo shipies!

Tho' I would suggest to put the main engines lower, to make them a tad closer to the centre of gravity line. Just a thought tho'. ;)

I don't have time to mess with the design, the contest I'm building it for ends Monday and I like the way it is, it would look goofy with the engines lowered.

    U.E.G. means United Earth Government.
