Well, I've been banging my head against this wall long enough. Time to post SOMETHING.

I'm very rusty AND Blender has undergone a lot of terrific changes since I was modeling on the regular. I haven't even added a signature or a background or any of the work as I got used to doing.

But it's Christmas Eve and for a change of pace there are quite a few TMP Enterprises in progress around here. Which is terrific.

This is from the Jim Slade blueprints. I'll make some tweaks to some of the proportions as I go. On screen this is actually a very small detail that isn't even seen very often! But I'm getting back in the swing of things and it's only the second model I'll have made in the TMP era.

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and all that.

A little more work. All materials temporary.

And just so I don't drive myself nuts, I make the occasional render of how close it will look with the rest of the ship.

Little bit of progress. I'm waffling over going with the level of detail on the actual model or adding more, like detailing a full scale docking port.

One alternative design might be to have a vertically positioned, scaled up Star Wars escape pod behind that hatch…with exterior doors to either side to suggest open swinging refrigerator type doors. The vertical escape pod would emulate the cylinder behind the TOS bridge—but not be a turbolift.

You know those people who seem to start and complete a project in like, three days? I'm not one of those people!

It looks like you got that shape nailed down nicely.

As opposed to the whole fast or not thing, there's nothing wrong with going at your own pace. As long as you're happy, that's all that matters.

Spectacular! And Tallguy, when it comes to speed, speed doesn't matter. I love to see someone who genuinely LOVES the Starship and who works hard to bring it to realization. That's what I tune in to see! Keep going!
