Adding layers of detail here and there.

Don't try to hold back the art deco. Let it flow.

    Continuing to flow slowly.

As long as it generally comes out the way you picture it in your head, time is irrelevant. Those look like warp nacelles, making it look like a Trek ship of the week. Intentional?
  • rojrenrojren2298 Louisville, Kentucky USAPosts: 1,970Member
Not really. I was wanting to do something full-on art deco, and to me that means shiny towers with
    spires.

I only occasionally try Star Trek ships. I find them difficult. Of course It's hard to not be influenced by them.

This is in keeping to ships after the 1980 Flash Gordon (not the Filmation cartoon--but the movie, that is)

Added sort of an atrium-type feature that I've seen on some buildings.

I'm putting the last ship on a back burner to think about what it's going to be. In the mean-time I'm reworking this one "The Wind in Her Sails"

Looks like it could be a long term solar sail explorer or research type ship. Nice work.
  • rojrenrojren2298 Louisville, Kentucky USAPosts: 1,970Member
    Thanks.

The original idea was for a cargo module hauler. Now I'm thinking it's a modular multi-purpose ship.

I could see solar sails furling up in that design...

That would also look good in the 1984 DUNE. The nacelles remind me of the needle/dart that Paul grabbed out of the air.

The hunter-seeker. I thought that design (almost light saber-ish) was interesting, except it was much smaller and more stealthy in the book.

The engines are sort of inspired by my (inaccurate) memories of what the Chrysler Building and the Museum Center in Cincinnati, and what used to be called the Providian Tower in the city I live in, look like.

Reworking a more whimsical design. It's called Candyfloss Station.

Continuing out. The spindle/spire shapes are the receiving stations for energy collectors in orbit of the local star

I figure the large domes have a diameter of a little over 2km. The midsized dome has landscape (thanks Google Earth), but it's hiding for some reason. Must be night.

I got the landscape to show up. It's the area around an Aunt's house in central Kentucky. The render looks weird, though.

Added a big dome. I was hoping the Falls of the Ohio park would look good, but it's much nicer from the ground than from the air. I need to change that.

Redoing and renaming another older ship. It's "Svanur" now. Google Translate thinks the old name has something to do with onions, which I don't understand at all.
