Thought I'd pull out this old model and refresh it a bit...using vray, ACES workflow, modern texture workflow, models and a lot of other things I learned from 12 years ago, holy crap! Anywho, looking good.... I think next I'll have To put in some real interiors...
Adding some baked interiors now instead of the weird techy texture that was there before so at least it's a bit more believable..fun to make these! I did the same thing on my USS Arges and just worked on these a little more..
Some renders, with help from awesome people like Viper I got some parts remodeled and closer to how they are supposed to look, my eye for detail is much better after all these years!
I love that tubbiness of the drive section... I n my head there's a big deep swimming pool somewhere in there. And I'm not just saying that because of the second episode of Foundation.
Where exactly on the ship did the champagne bottle hit?
If I remember right there's no corresponding spot on the model that looks like the mockup of the champagne bottle hitting the hull.
You're right. There is no corresponding hatch with the hull registry on the studio model of the ship. Putting a champagne splat somewhere on the hull would be a pretty fun Easter egg though.
Added a little conference room in the back of the bridge and a little panel separation around the saucer since there are "stripes", helps the realism a bit I think.
You, know—-I could see a huge lifting body like drop-ship filling the fantail curve to the shuttlebay making the secondary hull look like that of the Oberth…

How close can you get to the surface before you start seeing loss of detail? It looks like you could almost do macro shots with it.

And another bridge officer with ample time to warn them about the power surge.

Are you going to rework the plates texture so that the random pattern breaks on the panel cuts?
Looks Marvelous!
