I swear I already started a TOS projects thread... but I can't find it...

Anyway, my completed FX video for "The Tholian Web."

I want to thank again, XFozzboute, for allowing me to use his excellent Webspinner. :)

I decided to keep some of the minor errors... more authentic, I think... production errors. ;)

Here's the first time I did this:

You already know what I think about your work. You do very good work, very quickly. You also already know my very minor criticisms: I think the Enterprise and the Constellation should be lit more from below. In the approach shots of the Enterprise, she looks far too dark to me.

Terrific work and it was a joy to see come together.

In my next TOS project, I'll probably do a little more classic TOS lighting. :)

  • I would second both the praise and the minor criticism. I especially like your bussard collectors. For some reason they always seem to trip up fan projects.

Yea, TOS bussards are a PITA to get right, especially if you're going about them in a physical way, I just created an animated texture about 200 frames long. xD

  • Yeah, doing it physical I hear is a real bear. Probably because in the original physical model, the effect was the interaction of the rotating vanes and the camera shutter. I'm guessing "virtual shutters" don't react the same way with virtual constructs.

It's finally done! Well, it wasn't that long of a project to begin with. :p

    Also, Happy Halloween! :D

Today marks the 50th anniversary of the Star Trek franchise. Star Trek has always held a close place to my heart, it's inspired many people to become scientists, doctors, engineers, and more. It shows us our humanity, what we can become if we strive to overcome adversity. If only we try, and continue to try.

It's been a hot minute since I'd done anything TOS related... whoa! lol

Video uses nothing but Marc Bell's amazing models. 😃 I don't think I've ever made a video before using nothing but models made by the same person. lol

This looks better than the TOSr version.
