After being inspired by Mustang's amazing interior build Link and getting enough nostalgia vibes/member berries to start rewatching the show and maybe having enough experience to pull off such a unique organic shape by now i have started wrestling some polys and bullying some verts and this is where i left it last night.
(And again making a thread for it so i'll comitt to finishing it same as my Odyssey build thread)
Some progress after bullying it some more, the transition from the hull to the docking bay back to a hull again is proving to be... challenging (read fkin annoying*) im also trying to look at as much ref as possible in order to determine if the tops and bottoms of the secodary hulls are mirrored or not or if there are any specific diffrances to prevent me from mirroring them but i think that regardless mirroring them will def be easier even if it may not be 100% accurate.
The top and bottom of the middle secondary hull and docking sphere can probably be mirrored. But the rear secondary hull is likely supposed to be bent up above the center line. Its a pain that it was designed that way:

yeah pretty much what i can see aswell from what i have ref wise is that the lower part of the rear secondary hull angles up further back as seen here:
however on the Show MSD it seems it isnt a weird up angle instead it the tapering towards the rear starts earlier on the ventral side then it does on the dorsal side but the centerline bend doenst apear to be pronounced:
so if im aiming for anything it is most likly a blend with whatever i can make work and this MSD look while saving alot of hassle by mirroring and in the end she will still undoubtedly look seaquest-y and only the most hardcore nerds will notice and on a personal note id prefer it to have a clean line from bow to stern rather then this out of the blue stupid off angle screwing with the linearity of the design from a side POV. (maybe i'll rename the thread seaQuest - 2020 instead just to cover my bases)
Anyway here is a shot which shows what i intend to mirror and from where i'll start the mirror. (ofc there will be some hands on to make it work but it should work as intended)
I dont think anyone Is going to be too harsh.. and just on the safe side.. do all your renders in that pretty sense blue fog should hide any unsavory geometry:)
Left this to burn over night and i def need to increase the motions on the spotlights aswell as add some blinky lights and it should be ready to burn out some more angles, thinking of 3-4 for for a total of 01:00-01:20m of footage for a chunky little video sequence.
Fab!!! looks great, the wskrs really add some life to the scene.. not sure how you'd get it but it just needs that pulsing sound from the engines just to add that final bow..

way ahead of ya
Another low sample test with animation changes and Zdepth for fog, getting close now.
Great Work!!
final low sample test, slowed down the camera and also made a pretty logo.
Rendering a polished 4k version over night.
Idle thought aside, that's a fantastic rendition for a sample render!
