Heh, I know that feeling all too well.

Strangely, I'm hearing that voice again.

    That looks really good.

I went back to this ship and added a cockpit and reworked a few things while I was at it.

Back to this one. I spent a lot of the last three weeks trying to figure where I'm going with the design.

^Looks like something I used to blend my soup last night...

Yeah. It doesn't help that the author's description of the ships is "a plumber's helper with a balloon on the end."

I like it, it's different. Different is good.
  • rojrenrojren2298 Louisville, Kentucky USAPosts: 1,970Member
    I can do 'different'.
  • rojrenrojren2298 Louisville, Kentucky USAPosts: 1,970Member
    Getting there.

Which author? Which book? Sorry if I missed that. This looks difficult to do in any case so bravo.

Alan Dean Foster. The Humanx Commonwealth series. I guess it's a series of interconnected series.

I've named the ship "Te Wreix" which The internets tells me means 'Wonder' in Thranx.

    And I'm caught up!

Rojren, my friend, you are just a little nuts. In a few years, you've belted out scores of weird and wonderful ships and it's been fun going through them and looking at them all. I can't wait to see what you come up with next.

I really like how that one turned out. :)

Thanks, guys. Comments make my day. =)

Adam, That's what happens when one has a boring job with more than average amounts of free time, and decades and decades of spaceship scribbles to refer to.

My next project is another refresh of an older ship. A cargo ship that I was kinda happy with.

I hope you've been digging through threads other than mine. There's some really awesome content on this site.

I'm looking around. I've checked out a couple of other threads, but yeah, it seems this site continues to have some awesome artists on it.

I found my old account from 2010-ish, and I remember seeing how awesome everyone was back then. Things seem to have gotten better on that front since then.

This is a rework of a cargo ship: Leatherback. I've only just started.

Oh, that is going to be a nice one. I think I like her more than the original already.

Plus, she isn't likely to be confused for a vape pen unlike my latest.

I like the cargo ship. It's nice and chunky looking, as you'd expect a cargo ship to be. Yet, it's still got enough curves to be somewhat sleek. I like the color scheme too.

Okay, the site logged me out mid-post.

I based this on a turtle, so it needed some curves. I've done a few squared-off ships, and they tend to be a bit bleh,

I dunno why, but the way those bays are angled kinda remind me of the Taiidan mothership from Homeworld.

Is that the lemon wedge set on end? I bought that game when it came out, all those years ago, and there was a bug that wouldn't let me get more than ten minutes into the game before I lost. Never could get it to work right. (I'm lucky that way.) I lost interest after that.

Looking great. Those rooms really give you a sense of scale for the ship.

That'd be the Kushan mothership. The Taiidan one looked like this: Taiidan mothership concept

I'd give the concept art at least a look through. There's a lot of cool things in it. Gearbox released a remastered version a few years ago. I would recommend checking it out and giving it another chance.

The front/below picture is a pretty bad angle.
