You're doing a great job on this. She's shaping up real good.

That early model/Romulan version also looks great. Aside from the windows, I think I prefer the cleaner look and colour on it.

Thanks. I appreciate that. I can honestly say, I'm probably about a third to half done. This is SOME model.

I decided to pour it on and focus on the bottom. There is of course more to do but here is where I am so far. This is an ortho with the wings flat. Incidentally, the wings are at 30 degree angle down on the usual shots of this, and the disruptors are at 9 degrees angled away from the wings (I've moved these back and forth so many times to work on them they are well memorized by now).

Awesome work... i love looking at wireframes.... mainly because i really struggle with hull paneling so i like to see how other modelers tackle them..

    Great looking model as usual..

That top around the engines and behind the wing "blades" is looking superb. So many details, and I know you're not done with that area yet.

@evil_genius_180 Appreciate it. Wish it was done.

@trekki Is the mesh with the landing gear, a mesh that is available? Maybe I should try adding the gear to this.

    The model is from "Rudy".
He writes that it is free for private use.
Then you should be able to use the landing gear.
I hope this is understandable. I use a translater.

    the recessed wing greeble holder.

Thanks. All the way along I keep refining the main shapes.

I knew you'd highlight that. :3 I tried to do the details in there just like the model. Unfortunately there is no picture of the greebles on the other side. They are no doubt different. Oh well - duplicate in the X axis. Aren't computers wonderful? :p

Yes, they are. One thing that makes building stuff by hand difficult is doing mirror images of a thing you made. Computers make it a cinch.

    the wing greeble canal?
That was easy compared to the stuff on top of the bridge (the bridge greeble nightmare).

Looking great. I was looking at some schematics for this ship earlier and thinking about all of the fun you're having. ;)

Well for fun I've complained about this model (probably more than I should have) but I really have enjoyed working out the kinks and getting it accurate. The two plates on the lower half of the bridge at the front... 7 attempts and counting. I have one more try that is a bit better.

One of the reasons I was wringing my hands over trying to make the bottom was that even though I was following the side views and other photo shots, that big pipe along bottom of the "neck" NEVER intersected the bottom of the main hull in the right place. It was always too low. Then dull as I am it suddenly hit me. IT'S BENT (up). I bent it and viola, problem solved. :p

When you're using photos as a reference, sometimes it can take a few looks to figure out how stuff is sized, shaped or how it all fits together. Though, with all of the details, I'm sure even schematics aren't super helpful.

Yeah, and because you sized or placed one thing wrong, other things are wrong and so you end up adjusting and adjusting till everything starts to come together, one thing relative to another. After all this work, I definitely need to post a set of orthographics. Do you have some really good drawings for this, much like "Big Jim's" for the Refit Enterprise? Duh should have asked that a long time ago.

I don't know if such drawings exist. The ones I was looking at are on this page:

    https://www.cygnus-x1.net/links/lcars/gilso.php

(you have to scroll down quite a bit)

    Those are based on these:

    https://www.cygnus-x1.net/links/lcars/jac-kvort-class.php

(not all of those are clickable)

This set is pretty decent too, and larger than those previous two:

    https://www.cygnus-x1.net/links/lcars/sd-brel-class-klingon-bird-of-prey.php

Anyway, those seem like some of the better ones. I have no idea how they actually stack up next to the physical model.
