Yeah, shadows make a lot of difference and seeing the people help to get a feel for the light levels.

The controls look nice so far. They've got a nice retro vibe.

    Oh—something I forgot...Corey over at starshipmodeler.com did an Ingram

At any rate-I hope you are feeling better these days

Someone on the FRS did a really accurate version as well. It's not something I need to revisit. The destruction of my work was total - written, art, 3D all erased and the physical media was destroyed. Dave and I have tried very hard to get back what we can - most of my written work (about 99%) was on a shared server so that was recoverable. About half my artwork has been recovered. But 3D stuff? One texture map is all that could be saved, the lifepod hatch for one of the Ingrams. That's all. I know the Lexington fan film guys *had* a copy that I sent them. Whether they still do, I dunno. I could try and get back in touch and see if they still have it and if they could shoot it back over. But... and this is the important thing: that is all I would ever get back of my 3D work.. And that's only if they kept it.

So, start again I have. Start with this project is a must, because it was my feel good project. It's mine, and it's fun. It may be the only thing I recreate from old. I don't know. The Ingram... I spent years on it. Do I want to do that again when others are doing a better job than I ever did with what they are doing with it?

Not doing to bad these days. Ticker is still a mess, and always will be. Had major issues last year that saw me lose half the blood in my body (that was not fun), but I'm still alive and I'll take that as a plus.

He he he, I can't believe I forgot to toggle them on - d'Oh!

Just finished the navigation control set - different look to what I did before, but I'm liking it so far :-)

    Last one today;

tweaked the light placement and changed some floor lights to the ceiling ones as that's the way the shadows roll (thanks to the BFW).

Having the people in there really helps to see how everything is coming together and how the lighting is working out. :) For example, it may be hard to tell that those control consoles are the right height, until you put a person behind them and it's easy to see.

Those people caused me so many headaches. The site I got them from embedded a script thats caused Max to keep crashing. Lucky I live with a script expert and he was able to save the day. But I won't be adding any more of them, low poly as they are.

But they do make the scene - I wish I had the original five I had before, but I can't find where I got them from. I know I paid for them, so if I can find the site I'm sure I could redownload them again. They were fab. But the Golotree ones will do for now. (Just to be clear: Golotree didn't infect the files, it was the site they were hosted on).

There's 40 odd rooms to do, plus corridors and lifts and the like to make yet. Animating the doors so that they open... this is going to be a long project with breaks so I can do other things (like write, my real passion).

I'm not quite done with the control room yet, some tweaks to make. The steps into the comfy chair pit need to be chamfered - and I may move the controls forward a wee bit. But after that I will draw a line under the room and move on. We don't want me tweaking one bit endlessly, lol (*shudders at the memory of doing that with the Imgram*)

I'm just sorry that it's so compressed - the uncompressed version looks awesome - the domes really "pop" with the way the energy moves around.

Getting very close to being finished with this phase of the mesh, just some small details and then... a bit of a break to do other things, then back to do the rest of the rooms and internals.

    More soon.

If JMS ever does his Forbidden Planet movie—this must needs be the C-58

Thanks! I have some ideas myself (being something of a writer).
