I'm glad you all like the finished shuttlebay! Back when I did the original shape I wasn't sure it was gonna work or be well received, being such a weirdly arranged room, but I'm glad that apparently it did work haha.

Remember last week when I teased another big project I had been working on? Well, now I can finally share it publicly! As some of you might know, the crew behind the Star Trek Adventures campaign Shield of Tomorrow, which had been created in collaboration with CBS and Star Trek Online, are now working on another campaign called Clear Skies. This new campaign follows the crew of the USS Ross (named after Mary G. Ross), a prototype for a new class launched in 2381, exploring uncharted space in the Beta Quadrant.

While independent of CBS this time, they are still working with the fine folks over at STO. The Ross-Class starship is now a playable variant for the Galaxy-Class in said game, and was designed by Thomas Marrone, their lead ship designer. The ship features a warp capable saucer section, and is equipped for establishing diplomatic relationships first and foremost.
    4fcfc87bfc4d68309b8dafeaae8eaaed1579920072.jpg

If a tabletop RPG campaign is something you're interested in watching/hearing, you can check out Clear Skies over at YouTube; personally it's been great to hear it while working, a great way to lighten up my day. :)

Anyway, all of this to say that I've been working with them in designing/building the interiors for the USS Ross, the bridge being obviously the first order of business. While the original brief was to modify the existing USS Frontier bridge (and in fact in the first episodes of the show the bridge is described as the Frontier's), I was given a wide latitude in this job, and thus went for an entirely new bridge "shell", inspired by the Enterprise-E aesthetic, as that would be more fitting for a ship launched in the 2380's.

The columns, alcoves and viewscreen were reused from my Cerberus bridge design, while the chairs and horseshoe were indeed reused from the Frontier. The conn/science consoles (yes, ops is swapped with science here) and the XO/specialist consoles are brand new though, and inspired by designs from Star Trek Online, as a little nod to the fact that this is a bit newer than the Enterprise-E, and closer to the Starfleet aesthetic we see in the game.

As stated before, this is a long term project, and I'll (hopefully) be working on a lot more Ross interiors; though unfortunately I won't be able to share any in-progress shot of them. The next interior we'll be working on will be sickbay, though there's still no time-frame for it, as we haven't discussed details about it yet.

That's a great ship design. Your bridge to go with it is perfect, a nice blend of Galaxy and Sovereign influences.

Thanks for the comments, I'm glad you all like the Ross bridge! :)
I have another update on it: a 360º "tour" with several available cameras is now online at http://carolx.me/w/uss-ross-360/

This wasn't originally planned, but rather came about after the bridge was announced. A Clear Skies fan called Carol Rozendo contacted me with the idea of creating this little website, as she had experience coding similar online showcases. I rendered the 360ª images and send them her way the other week, and now the site is online! It's certainly a different way of seeing the bridge, it reminds me a lot of the old Captain's Chair game. Hope you like it!

@Freak: Thanks! It is indeed a great looking ship. :)

@trekki: I could do the 360º renders, yes; but I wouldn't have anywhere to put them without building a dedicated website for that sort of stuff. In that sense the Ross is a special deal as fans of Clear Skies and the Streampunks team can suggest and help me out with things like that.

Another small commission today, this one from a DeviantArt community member: the Mediterranean-Class USS Diligent, NCC-41811.
While based on the existing USS Odyssey set, I modified it somewhat to resemble the older USS Saratoga one. This includes swapping the whole viewscreen area to the TMP era version of it, making the bridge half a meter shorter at the front, and replacing the side alcoves with flat panels with a single door.

The styling is very much inspired by the Enterprise-C, but with more modern (early TNG) style LCARS in place.

That's a cool bridge. It's very fitting for a small ship type like the Mediterranean class.

Chugging along with multiple commissions (including some non-Trek work that I can't show due to contracts but yay its exciting), and now I'm focusing on one I actually have going since late last year, but that was delayed due to an extensive "pre-production", shall we say. Essentially it's a brand new bridge that we designed entirely before actually getting into the 3D part of it.

The commission is for our very own @Starscream, and it's for the USS Orion NCC-60120, first of its class. Designed and modeled by DJCurtis for Bridge Commander, the Orion-Class is essentially a Constitution sized Galaxy. While some might see it as derivative, personally I quite like it, taking all the good aspects of the Galaxy and presenting them in a much more logical size for a "workhorse" starship. It's supposed to have been a testbed for all the Galaxy technologies; newer than the 'Wolf 359 fleet', but a bit older than the Galaxy-Class itself.

    tadeo-d-oria-external-content-duckduckgo-com.jpg?1583896583

The brief was "what if the TNG production had enough money to properly convert the Constitution bridge set into a TNG-era 'bridge of the week' set?". To that end, the actual walls are taken from the Connie, but everything else will be brand new (well, except for the conn/ops consoles and Captain's chair, obviously). The walls will have four door alcoves (two at the front, two at the back), and feature standing consoles similar to those from TMP (left side of the image), but re-imagined with a fully TNG-era aesthetic.

This is build to be highly modular, again imagining how the production might have done it so that it could be easily redressed as needed for different episodes. The new standing consoles are separated into individual pieces, while both the wooden rails and the bottom can be removed to create different looking consoles. In the future we might end up doing different versions of this bridge, from early TNG to late TNG, to showcase how it might have changed through the years, and to take advantage of this modularity.

Anyway, here's how its looking so far! Keep in mind, only the basic shape of the floor is in place, a blue carpet will be added on top of the red one, just like on TNG.

Interesting. Is that big curved console a tactical / security console? And for that matter, are the two side ones for first officer and mission specialist?

I LOVE IT! I have loved that little Orion class ever since I laid eyes on it and aside from dropping her in a render with her 'big sister' I haven't done much with it.

I am VERY excited to see where you go with this one. :)

I like that ship. Given the time frame, maybe a light cruiser. Aside from the Galaxy, I see some Ambassador design elements in it too.

The bridge looks nice so far too. I really like that large curved console behind the command chair. It looks like it could contain stations for at least 3 officers.

@Rusty0918: Here's a graphic Starscream did a few months ago labeling all the consoles. It includes some questions we were tackling at the time but those are already resolved now.
    tadeo-d-oria-rough-floorplan-1.jpg?1583973476
@ashleytinger: Thanks! Hahaha, I could always make with more Orion-Class renders.

@evil_genius_180: Thank you! Indeed, that long console is for 3 stations. :)

@BolianAdmiral: Thanks, glad you're liking it!

@lennier1: Oh lol, indeed! It certainly wasn't intended on my end though. When I send those images to Starscream this was their reply:
"Holy hell, that console is similar! I don't recall seeing his bridge before, but tbh the pixelart stuff I bothered storing must be a good 15yrs old, so it's certainly possible if I did see his. I'm hoping it's just a case of convergent evolution - I thought I was being "incredibly original"... 😑"

This is the pixel art they're referring to, which was the very first piece sent to me when discussing this bridge:
    tadeo-d-oria-pre-tng-tmp-based-cruiser-bridge.jpg?1583973541
A lot more work done all over. Most of the wall displays are now in place (lacking their acompanying consoles for now), as well as the door alcoves. The front ones have half-size doors, and while they might look very thin due to how tall they are, they're still comfortably wide (72cm, to be exact, wider than the doors on my house). I've also added some floor level lighting to the new standing consoles, plus finished the pit area steps, adding some subtle lighting to them similar to that from 'Generations'.

The whole color pallet was changed to reflect the early TNG aesthetic of the ship. The floors, wood details, and ceiling/console lights were all swapped. The walls are the same color they were before, but due to all the changes they look very different. The Captain's chair was likewise changed to its season 1 version, though I took the chance to do some rework on it, as my mesh was showing its age.

I've tweaked the colors a bit more, and finished up the carpet pattern and doors. I've also added more details to the ceiling viewport. Plus I'm adding some of the LCARS and red labels.

By the way, I forgot to mention this in the last post, but the wall panel details were extremely easy to do using the Skin modifier in Blender; something I never considered before seeing @kaden use it on their fighter model for the RCS thrusters, that was a great little trick!

I'm still amazed by how big this bridge looks, despite both the outer diameter and the center pit diameter being the exact same as on the Constitution refit bridge. I assume this is an optical illusion due to the rails being angled outward, plus the slightly higher ceiling.
