This is what happens when you use some pretty good but overpriced software that has some pretty lame video export options, then run it through a free video editor and attach some royalty-free music.

I see you're still building ships for your own universe. Very nice. I like that animation, and the music you found for it is nice too.
  • rojrenrojren2298 Louisville, Kentucky USAPosts: 1,970Member
Yeah, I've still got a bunch of old (and a few new) ideas to mine for new ships. And I still have a hard time getting into the design ethic of the established universes.

I did do a Federation post-Antares / pre-Constitution era medical ship earlier this year.

Thank you. Here's some more views. I don't think I posted them here, just on the Discord channel and my site.

Something a little smaller this time. (The surface facets are on purpose)

Nice start. It has an early Apollo capsule look to it so far. :)
  • rojrenrojren2298 Louisville, Kentucky USAPosts: 1,970Member
It should end up looking a bit different. Maybe. I hope.

Added a 'drive ring', and an airlock.

It wasn't a criticism, just what came to mind. It definitely looks different. I like the look of it so far.

It wasn't taken as a criticism. It was more of an observation. I was just trying to come up with a response while 1/2 - 3/4 asleep on the couch.

Truth be told, I could probably do with more than a bit of criticism if I'm going to get any better at this.

Added a bunch of detail to the airlock module.

I'm not sure how clear this is, but I've been building the inside of the control cabin. It's split down the center. The brown sausages are the acceleration couches (0.25g max).

Nice work. I really like those cutaway renders.
  • rojrenrojren2298 Louisville, Kentucky USAPosts: 1,970Member
Thanks. I wasn't going to do those, but then suddenly I was doing them.

I'm not sure why, but I tend towards cargo ships.

Worked on the cargo mods, changed some stuff. Forgot to copy some parts.

I like the shape, it definitely looks fast.
  • rojrenrojren2298 Louisville, Kentucky USAPosts: 1,970Member
Thanks. I hope it looks fast when it's finished. It's ended up a bit stubbier than I was planning.

Started playing around with the materials and lighting settings again. I usually get started, then have to stop before I can get very far.

That's cool. I like that center glowy thing a lot.

Thanks. That's the business end of the main drive unit. It's had a gold foil material applied set to the color temperature of an incandescent lamp.

    Uhhh huh.

I punched some buttons, slid some sliders, and got a bit lucky.

Great designs. I hate to ask but, what software are you using? I know if I wasn't lazy I might find it somewhere on this site or in this thread.
I watched the video above with the music. A great way to show off an intricate ship.

Thanks. I use AutoCAD. I think something around here mentions that, but I'm damned if I know where.
