I'm working on a blu-ray resolution version of the Season Two version of the titles.

    Sorry for the late bump.

    Thanks for looking in!

This mesh is just beautiful. Excellent modeling and texturing. I'm glad to have someone show me what Blender can REALLY do.

I remade my deflector dish using Gary Kerr's illustration. The same illustration is being used to create a newer, more accurate dish for the Enterprise Restoration. That one is being built out of acrylic.

Awesome job! Your Enterprise looks just as real as the physical model on the show and your effects and lighting are spot on!

I have to agree. Easily one of the best TOS Constitution-class 3D models I've seen. :)

Yeah, I know I'm insane. For whatever reason, I absolutely LOVE to make movies of my Enterprise model as it spins around. Nothing fancy, just a spin.

Love it. :D I'm still working on converting the model, I think I have it in 3ds max now, just retexturing it. :)

    Thank you!

    Okay, here we go:

    The textures.

    The Blend file:

Of course, I ask that you credit me if you can actually use it!

    Hello scifieric,
thank you for the beautiful mesh. Unfortunately, the textures are not correct. Blender only renders in
    pink. :(

I had some time to pull it all into Blender. It takes a bit of fixing (it takes a lot of fixing) but it can be done!

    Hello scifieric,
    my english ist not good.
What do you mean by that ?
  • scifiericscifieric1122 Posts: 1,497Member
You seem to do just fine. I built my model in TrueSpace and in an early version of Blender. When I pulled the model into the latest version of Blender, I clicked on each piece of the model, recalculated the object and then I mapped the textures. Does that make any sense?
  • trekkitrekki939 Posts: 1,394Member
To help thanks for trying, but Blender can not find the textures.
I have selected all objects but that does not help.
  • scifiericscifieric1122 Posts: 1,497Member
    Sorry trekki!
  • trekkitrekki939 Posts: 1,394Member
    No problem !

    trekki,

Did you download both zip files? The reason you are seeing Pink textures is (probably) because scifieric's using image textures, and if Blender cannot find the graphics for the Image Texture node(s), the resulting material is coloured pink. Hope my guess is correct.

Yes, I downloaded both files. The textures I have copied to a directory.
    Thanks David

    Hi Eric,
Would it be possible to export your Enterprise to an FBX format? I really don't know Blender so am kind of lost when it comes to locating the textures and their names in the blend file. I tried exporting to OBJ and looked in the MTL file and saw that the file names were somewhere in an Eric folder on your C (I think) drive. Cinema 4D doesn't play well with OBJ files and my attempt to export to FBX didn't work very well due to the folder structure and not being able to find the texture files.
    Thanks in advance...
    Al

I will give it a shot!

    Thanks Eric.

I found out how to load the textures in Blender and they are now appearing when I do a render. However, when I export the file to either FBX or OBJ, the textures and materials are not appearing properly in C4D. I would have loved to work with your excellent model, but I think I may be out of luck.

    Thanks again...
    Al

Yeah, when I do OBJ files, I tend to have to remap everything.
