Jump Flash Effect

Hello.

Am not a pro, but would like to share an idea for this I came up with recently. I used this in Rise of the Cylons Pt. 2
but could maybe have done a better job blending it in. Or using a better object say, a cut out of the Battlestar itself.
--See Rise of the Cylons pt. 1 and pt. 2 in the finished animation section--

Not real sure about how things may be done by others, I only know from what I discover and learn.

I use C4d but this is really simple, but you may adapt and alter however.

I use a cylinder, Sliced it up into sections.
Added a Volumetric Light with Shadow maps. large visibility range.

This way you get the shaded light

Light Settings:

I also added a lens flare to the Light and adjust to liking. I can change whether or not the Flare works or fades near objects, so that can also make a different look to effect. In this rendering it fades behind object.

Animate light thru- Render as you like.
-- I render in png sequences and add alpha for transparency.Or otherwise you could use BLK-BG with screen
or Key it out in RGB.
-- Then comp the sequence in layer in AE or Video Editor.

Also, I have a Composition Tag on the Cylinder to not be seen by camera.
IDK How this would be done in other apps..?

Just a new, maybe different way I discovered on how to maybe make the Flash Jump Effect.
I have not actually made a good Jump Flash, but I may be on to something :)

Quick Gif Render Example:

This image is actually slow- I always forget to check the timing in PS....
