Here's the Mako from Mass Effect I've been working on. This is a low poly model, texturing in process:

    Nice start. It looks like it would be good for animation. :)

    Thanks for the positive feedback guys!

    I added some extra details to the exhaust and the bottom side so the main body has been completed on the whole.

    I always like the mako, but can you put in a scale reference? It always seemed like it would be too small in game.
  • vnm51vnm51173 Posts: 0Member
    The only reference I can provide at this moment is a comparison of my normandy sr-1 and the m35:

    Ok, how about a character reference, even just a basic body?

    @Knight26:

    Here's a char comparison:

    I've finished this six wheeled, ultra light, economical vehicle with low consumption. Really enjoyed making this one.
    Here are the pics:
    I also finished the SR-1, gladly take screenies if anybody is interested in. Next one would be the SR-2.

    I actually LIKED using the Mako, and I missed driving it in ME2 and ME3. Thumbs up from me!

    @Zeropoint:
    I'm glad you like it.

    I've got the same feeling too. The exploring stuff in ME2 and ME3 is really missing.

    I make a scene to recall the good old exploring days of ME1. This is a basic setup, work in progress:

    Yes, me too. It might not have always been the best mode of transport but it worked. I absolutely hate the Hammerhead that they introduced in ME2...that sucked majorly.

    Love that scene there. :)

    @akb1979:
    I'll continue that just have to make additional models like the M29, crates, house etc.
    Anyway, I'm not a fan of the Hammerhead too :)

    I started to make the SR2 and just done with the modelling part. There she is:

    ps: could someone tell me how to change the main picture of the thread?

    A little update:

    I finished the texturing process of the body, here are the pics:
    By the way, it's also a low poly model.

    Ok I have always wondered, what the heck are those things on the side that look like little orange windows? They don't match up with any internal detail, are they sensors, the laser defenses, what?
  • SaquistSaquist1 Posts: 0Member
    It's just a ship. It wasn't designed to make sense inside and out.
  • vnm51vnm51173 Posts: 0Member
    @Knight26:
    Hehe, you're right. They are windows in orange color. The basic color of the ME2 is the orange. If you check the HUDs, that stuff on the arms omni-tool or what, monitor screens etc got orange color. Wheter it's good or not depends on taste but tbh I'm not a fan of this color. So if we consider that equipments emit orange color windows might have illumination. Ok it's just a raw theory.

    @Saquist: Well, yes and no. The basic shape might be the concorde or something similar, but the front segment like the forehead section really makes no sense. The inside is just simply waste of space.

    I finished the SR2 here are the pics:

    The Normandy did have windows, I just don't remember there being many rooms to have them...the observation rooms on either side, the cargo bays on either side, Miranda's quarters...think that's it.

    Awesome work. :)

    @akb1979:

    I checked the official site and normandy got the same amount of windows there but yeah, the inside doesn't fit to the outside both in measure as well as num of windows.
    Awesome work:).

    Thanks:)

    I started the M29 which is not so popular but I like it somehow. It's a low poly model again. Pics:

    I made some miscs for the scene posted above;
    Several weeks and hundred of screenshoots needed to make something-at least- similar to the original textures.
    Here are some pics of the base, mining entrance, powerplant and grids:

    ah there were some great concepts in mass effect

    I know, I'm not familiar with the games but I got the art of book and it's fantastic, it takes the spirit of sci-fi from my youth and gives it a modern vitality and edge to it. Plus lots of Mead inspiration and an animation-centric sensibility (did anyone else notice the two shots from Final Fantasy The Spirits Within that were accidentally included in the holographs page?)

    I like the big wheels on that truck thing... I'd love to see that mashed up with the ground transport from Aliens.

    and the mining entrance:

    I'm not familiar with the game but I like these models, especially the mine entrance. I've been looking for a mining entrance for my asteroid mining scene and this gives me an idea. Great job.
