I like it. It's different, which is never a bad thing.

I was going to take a break for the rest of the year, but things have been really, really dead at work, and I can only watch so many tutorials (and Westworld Youtube videos, and John Pinnette comedy routines).

For some reason the redish circles came out all jaggy.

Great looking stuff. I like how the shapes flow together, as opposed to just being a collection of shapes.

I added a large hangar deck, and some features to the engine.

That's a really interesting configuration. :thumb: Nice nickname too.
  • rojrenrojren2298 Louisville, Kentucky USAPosts: 1,970Member
Thanks. I don't think I've done an asymmetrical ship here before. I may dump the chevron part.

Yeah, I like asymmetry sometimes. This is definitely looking good so far. :)
  • rojrenrojren2298 Louisville, Kentucky USAPosts: 1,970Member
I have a better idea now of what this one's going to be like.

It looks sort of Delta Flyer-ish

    From the back.

    build0128x_thumb.jpg

I'm not sure how the wood-like appearance happened.
  • rojrenrojren2298 Louisville, Kentucky USAPosts: 1,970Member
All the complex curves are confusing everything. Looks a bit like water colors.

I'm liking this so far. It's almost organic looking.

Oh, now this is interesting. Astroarchaeology! God, I'd love a career in that: studying ancient technologies!
  • rojrenrojren2298 Louisville, Kentucky USAPosts: 1,970Member
And occasionally studying technologies that study back - or don't want to be studied. It would be a cross between prospecting, salvage, and occasionally diplomacy. The end research teams would have to work in linguistics, metallurgy, different types of physics, engineering, and biosciences, exohistory... who know what all?

I still can't figure out for certain what's causing the odd striping, but oh well.

Thanks for commenting JES, and thank you Evil for being the only other person to comment on this thread of scribbles for the past ten months.

It looks like a 256 color (8 bit) image to me.

The model is looking good, I like the design a lot.

I like the curves on this one, very sleek and graceful.
  • BlueNeumannBlueNeumann615 Posts: 1,275Member
It's a very cool ship with a very cool premise... you could get a lot of stories out of the crew of that particular vessel.

I've lurked in this thread since you started it and think you have some awesome ideas and the originality of "astro-archeology" is very creative, to say the least. You're using solely AutoCAD, still?
  • rojrenrojren2298 Louisville, Kentucky USAPosts: 1,970Member
I think the file was damaged. I tried copying the geometry into a new file and things got worse. It looked like paint thinner had been dripped on it.

BlueNeumann: Thanks. Only a few of the ships have backstories of any sort.

Schimpfy: Thanks. Yeah, still using AutoCAD. I played around with Fusion 360 for a (short) while. I may try again after they work on it some more. There are several things I don't like about it at present.

It wasn't my intention to fish for compliments. (Although, naturally, I do like them. (thanks bosun and evil)) I was just wondering where everyone, except Evil ;), had been all this time. I guess it's a symptom of this place dying. I know I don't comment as much as I used to.

Has anyone heard anything about revitalizing SFM?
