question about glow through a sphere

booabooa0 Posts: 0Member
Im experimenting with different ways to make a good old fashioned star trek shield effect. I currently use a sphere around the ship, and i project the shield material with the help of lights, only problem is, that the engine glow in video post will not go through the sphere, nomatter what i try. Any help would be much appreciated:),
As you can see, no glow...

    If you're using 3ds max, I'd get ky_throughout...
    AMD Ryzen 9 5900X
Gigabyte RTX 3080 Gaming OC 12GB
    1TB NVMe SSD, 2 x 1GB SATA SSD, 4TB external HDD
    32 GB RAM

    here's a bit of theory:

glow is caused by the camera, not by the light source, so in reality it would never be selective about a surface - if you give all your surfaces a realistic brightness you should be able to apply glow/bloom to the entire image at the end of a render without having to worry about transparent objects messing things up
