I think it's purely a shot for the trailer, it's flying through a logo or something, never going to be used in the show
I was hoping that. Judging from the work I've seen so far, I think it's too low quality of a pass for what they're doing. It looks like a "quick" render just to have something for the trailer.
oh wow, its hard to realize just how much work went in to make this happen, at least the archives were "easy" to find. I hope they make a new 35mm master for each restored episode, and put that in the archives for the 50 year anniversary re-release on Telepathetic HD
Well after waiting the extra 4 weeks because of the recall, i finally got my copy of season 1 on friday!!!!!!!! yay, started watching it, and LOVE IT! had a busy weekend out though, so only got upto The battle..... More tonight!!!!!
CBS announced the official release date for Star Trek: The Next Generation Season 2 on blu-ray, it will be a 5-disc set, and is due for release on December 4 in the U.S. and Canadian markets.
Has anyone noticed any missing footage that was SD upscaled on their discs yet? I've found the scene from Conspiracy where the bug crawls up Remmick's arm looks like it was an upscale... any others?

The only upscale footage to my knowledge is in 'We'll Always Have Paris.'
I can ask the Okuda's if there was though...
Just looked at the episode, and compared it to the known SD version, and the shot is not in fact, upscaled SD footage...

Able to show the Season 2 trailer now, some may have already seen it, but CBS had TrekCore, and subsequently me, pull the trailer, but they've given the green light, and so here it is.
Is the Season 2 BD as bad as people are claiming? Everyone keeps saying it's utterly crap compared to S1 cause of the outsourced company doing the work. Anyone able to clarify that?

Some shots are awesome, others are not so awesome... the biggest let down is the planets, they don't have Max Gabl's quality... and the stars tend to be a bit blurry compared to CBS Digital's...
CBS Digital:

However, many shots look excellent compared to the SD versions of the shots...

So, does that mean they're eventually going to go back and "fix" season 2? I'm asking because I got a Blu-Ray player on a Black Friday sale and I'm definitely interested in getting these, but I don't want to buy an inferior product just to have a better one come out later. (it's happened before )

As far as I know, Season 2 is as it stands.

Yea, the funny thing is they found the original negatives for this shot, because they're used in "Heart of Glory."

Yes, but wouldn't they still need to get authorization from him to use it?
And... it has textures, so they would've had to create them, since JMoney only finished his textures a short while ago...

OK, thanks.
I can't wait for Season 3...
I had to speed up the SD explosion from "Yesterday's Enterprise" by 40% since that's what they did in the trailer...
Since YouTube lowers the quality... here's some screenshots from the original video:
