It's an amazing model. And I actually had to search to find the Excelsior next to that behemoth.

    That is beautiful work! :cool::cool::cool:

...and it drives home the reminder of just how much further I have to go! :(

Have you made any progress with the interior at all?

You mean the cover of the last "Ships of the Line" calendar wasn't enough of an indicator? ;)

My compliment, this is a fantastic work, congratulations. Is there any chance for a public release ?

My next Trek animation will be the stealing the enterprise sequence, your mesh would be perfect for this animation, because of the excellent details.

That's insane. Even though I'm not a Star Trek fan I still gotta love that render !

    Gorgeous!

    Love the sense of scale.

Shame we got that ball thing in the latest movie, one of the best space station designs!

Cool, suppose they use transporters to get around this thing? A turbo-lift ride would be like 20 minutes.

Nice job Rob. Always nice to see the Excelsior trawled out for a bit of use. Amongst other things.

haha, I noticed it right off, I mean, you see a bright white sliver in a spot you shouldn't.

  • Looks great, very cool mesh indeed and at such a scale of output you'd think it'd be easy to find fault but no, not at all! :)

This is fabulous and very much has the look and feel of the films/shooting model. The scale and scope of the station really hits home on this.

    Thanks everyone!

The interior needs some refurbishing, as it was just built and set up for that specific SOTL cover.

    I concur - wow.

And even in these huge renders, the windows are just a bright pixel or two somewhere...what size are your textures?
  • Mr. WildeMr. Wilde197 Posts: 121Member
The windows are no textures. They are polys floating above the main hull so you can get close enough. Much easier to create, too. They are all the same size, evenly spaced, and not distorted like textured windows would have been in some places.

How long does this take to render?
